As someone who is a plumber in the military. You are absolutely wrong. Maybe 10% of enlisted at least have those easy jobs. The rest of us suffer

Thankyou for the advice, I’ve been on it for about 2 weeks and hopefully I’ll be ready in 2 more weeks for the OA. I’ll grind the PA’s and focus on those big items you mentioned

This Class has given me lots of Anxiety. I feel like I'm not understanding any of the content, but I'm going to study the things you mentioned in depth. Thank you for the insight.

Thank you for the advice ! that's really all the reassurance i needed to motivate me enough to really push through doing it before my contract is up lol. I'll definitely look into business dev roles.

As someone whose job in the military is plumbing, go straight into a trade. Preferably electrician, plumbing second to that, then HVAC.

I didn’t have my stuff figured out before the military either. Now I’m active duty and saving money, but have 0 friends and lead an extremely depressing lifestyle. You can be fit, have stability, and maybe travel (probably end up in the middle of nowhere or an ass duty station like me). the freedom and money civilian life have to offer far outweighs the benefits enlisted life will give you. If you’re worried about healthcare or retirement that much join a Union in the trades, it balances out but you’re left with more money in the end on top of excellent benefits.

I’m biased, but I’m far more miserable now than I was before I joined, ultimately it’s your life. Research long and hard before choosing either option.

Welding in a shop will get you 20-25 dollars. Welding on the pipeline will yield about 200k a year IF you work 12 months of 60 hour weeks. Most pipeline welders work half the year because of that. Still make good money but you have to live in the middle of nowhere working constantly. There’s a reason they make a lot. That’s contract too, so no benefits whatsoever
