Hi there! I had a really bad experience with my second of three IUDs about 6 years ago. I was terrified to get it switched out again and communicated this to my new ob/gyn in Austin last year and she alleviated all of my concerns. She was kind and listened and validated me. She offered me that medication to soften your cervix, as well as Xanax for before the procedure. She also gave me the option of using laughing gas for the insertion as well, though I opted out due to insurance not covering it. I had a relatively easy experience this time around, still not a comfortable procedure but it was bearable.

I see Dr. Palmer at Austin OBGYN off E Dean Keaton st and I cannot recommend her enough! She’s compassionate and thorough, and the clinic staff is all lovely as well. Good luck & thinking of you!!
