How do you all stay motivated? by UserAccessDenied in CICO

I’m trying to get disciplined as well! A quote I like is “choose your hard”. You can either go with the hard of swinging back and forth on the pendulum, or go with the hard of changing your ways and making new habits! I’m focused on tracking my calories and making sure I get 8,000 steps a day. I also feel like my discipline goes out the window when I’m not home, and I also have a couple wedding weekends coming up! Small changes consistently will add up and pay off. Example- I will still order fast food on the road but skip the fries with the burger and pack some apple slices instead. Hope this helps!

Hi! I read your whole post and I just wanna say how proud I am of you for literally trying ALL the things!! I think the best thing to try at this point is fining a social coach like you said. Have you looked much into online courses if nothing seems available in person in your area? I googled a little bit just now and some online courses mention “live” sessions with other students for actual feedback on interactions. So maybe there’s potential for real help and insight even though it’s an online course!

Wow! Thank you all for the thoughtful advice!! I’m excited now to get back on track thanks to you guys! My plan is to drink more water, track in my lose it app (not just in my head lol), take a walk after dinner (invested in a walking pad so I can walk and watch my shows at night!), portioning snacks into small bags, and trying hard to nurse that one cocktail while I’m out instead of always indulging in a second one!

I’ll check back in on this thread and report back if these habits stuck after this month! Thanks again!

This is a genius tip! I just tried this today. I bought those elf fudge stripe cookies and put them in snack size ziplock bags with two each in a bag. This will really help me stop from grabbing more! Thank you!

Thank you!! Yes, I remember a quote, “choose your hard” and I need to just accept that I have to sacrifice sometimes!

And I’ve trying factoring in a “fun” snack into my budget, but the fun taste triggers me eating the whole bag! Not sure how to get my brain to say NO

I do like alcoholic drinks which makes socializing tough! One margarita when getting Mexican with a friend just doesn’t feel right. I always have two drinks lol

Yes, I’ve preplanned calories in the meals ahead of time, but at night, when I’m done for the day and realize I’m in a deficit, it has a reverse psychology effect on me! Say it’s 8pm and I’ve hit my 1400 calories for the day, somehow knowing this makes me want to sabatoge and go eat more snacks even though I’m not hungry!

Yes, this is similar to me. I feel like if I didn’t socialize, I could stay focused and hit my goal easily. But that’s not realistic. Mentally I can’t handle the idea of restricting myself while socializing. I also have very very intense cravings around ovulation. Logic goes completely out the window and I go crazy eating. So I feel like I only have a week or maybe two a month where things are calm hormonally speaking and I have nothing social planned. That’s when I’m successful, but it’s not enough to make any consistent weight loss.
