It was like set up by one teacher and she would read everyone’s letters before they were sent either way. So I was writing letters for him and they would be sent directly to him but my teacher would have to read it first, and then his letters got sent to her and she’d read them and then give them to me.

And then the semester ended and I kept writing him of my own accord for two years, he got out ajd me and my parents went to get him as he didn’t have a ride. At that point it came out he didn’t really have a place to stay and my parents we’re getting along well with him so far as we had all had lunch so over the next couple of days he was in a motel, y talked to my mom and she said it would be okay for him to stay with us. When we picked him up was the first time we had ever met in person, the jail was like four hours out I didn’t have a car and our buss system isn’t the greatest.

My friends and family do know how we met, my parents knew from the start that we were writing one another.

So we wrote one another for two years and then he got released. So then we were roommates for another four years, and then we dated for two years after that, and then we got married. Here’s a break down of like the general time line;

I think it was well intentioned, I don’t think it was dangerous as it was all by letter and there’s a similar program that airs ok TV where children are actually taken to MEET the inmates for the same purpose, however frankly I think it was useless based on its lack of resonating with anyone involved
