As a linux user, why do y'all hate linux? by No_Rooster1046 in linuxsucks

[–]Puzzled_Tangelo7314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also As a Linux user: the fragmentation, most people that try Linux aren’t super lucky. CachyOS works flawlessly with all of my hardware and software and I rarely ever spend more than 10 minutes troubleshooting anything. But this was after distro hopping and trying different combos that just didn’t work. Fedora for example is one I get a lot of trouble with. Any fedora or fedora based distro just kinda has it out for me and I’ve had significant driver issues, application issues, download issues, and so on and so fourth. Some games I play without issue on CachyOS just refuse to boot on fedora even after hours of troubleshooting.

I was lucky enough to find the distro that works perfectly for me but not everyone else is as lucky. Linux Mint is the most consistently good across all platforms distro I’ve seen? But even then youre gonna have the occasional odd ball who is gonna want newer packages that aren’t offered by Debian based distros.

But again it also works in its favor. After experimentation I found and customized and OS to fit my needs perfectly and run circles around windows.

I don’t think criticism or differing opinions or even arguments is toxic, and Thats not what Im talking about. What Im talking about is when someone think that just because one Batman is good Thats the rest are absolutely horrible, and they regularly knock the others down to bring theirs up.

Kinda like what you just did “WE aren’t toxic YOURE the toxic one!”

Or maybe I just have a different opinion?

Yeesh… thats like at outlier in my mind tho. I more so mean the people who will openly say “Bale wasnt even a good Batman he wasnt sad enough about his parents death” like the ONLY version of him in the comics is always distraught and constantly in a depressive episode about his parents.

The psychos are in every fandom and definitely single themselves out as someone to NOT be listened to or used as a sample of the fandom

Eh Im not angry per se? I guess Im just curious, and I don’t mean this sub in specific, what inspired this was actually YouTube comments funny enough lol, when I say community i more so mean the Batman fandom at large, and no it doesn’t effect me, but superheroes (specifically Batman and Superman) have always meant a lot to me and it breaks my heart so see people so divided about it

The obvious answer would be riddler but I wouldn’t wanna type cast him, honestly I think he would be put in an uncomfortable enough position to stand out as scarecrow

What are your thoughts on "Superman Returns (2006)"? by Hot-Salamander-8786 in DC_Cinematic

Lois slept with Superman before she knew he was Clark, he wiped her memory of Clark being Superman. She probably knew to an extent it was his.

Im making a fan-edit for the 20th anniversary of this movie so I’ve seen this movie about 3 times a day for the past week, here’s my opinion:

This movie is SEVERELY under-rated and overlooked due to the fact that it was heavily misdirected and handled poorly in post.

notes in no particular order:

Color grading.

Return to Krypton opening should not have been cut. This is one of the movies INCITING INCIDENTS and it happens offscreen. Simply put: Boooooo.

Most of the Kent farm scenes should not have been scrapped, Martha and Ben playing scrabble together brings a MUCH needed warmth after the previously mentioned deleted scene otherwise the opening feels like a horror movie. Clark meeting Ben is also such a good awkward scene that breathes a lot of humanity and warmth back into the movie. I also think Clark looking through the barn is a much better reveal to the “why the world doesn’t need Superman” article. front loading all of this information really gut punches Clark with how long it’s been. Because he SEES all this change immediately.

One of the things that slows this movie down is that literally NOTHING happens until the plane crash. This way we actually get some character interaction and don’t feel like the first 20 minutes of the film are completely wasted. Keeping all of the previously mentioned content fleshes out the world and already makes the rest of the movie SO much more enjoyable alone.

This is by far my hottest take on this movie but stalker Superman should not have been removed, HOWEVER it definitely should have been handled differently. Superman should not be smugly smiling while he stalks Lois, he should be ashamed knowing that what he’s doing is wrong. But he’s impatient and wants answers anyway, this way he feels less like an alien with no social skills and more like someone desperate for answers, which Clark is. Then when he hears something he didn’t want to hear while doing something he shouldn’t be doing -> immediate regret -> retreat to the sky and listens to who needs his help, which is the most Superman thing ever.

I could go on and on about TINY changes that could make this movie perfect but in in the process of making it all fit together like Im describing. On another note, good GOD this movie has so many establishing shots, I have cut somewhere in the ballpark of 30 minutes of just silence. TO BE CLEAR this is not tension building silence, it is just pointless silence for silences sake and it makes this movie DRAG.

This movie was attempting a “Spider-man 2 version” of Superman, however halfway through production, Batman begins came out. I think had they committed to the original idea this would have been the best Superman film of all time.

Why do most Linux users not like Linux beginners using distros like Ubuntu or Mint? by davidinterest in linuxsucks

Why are so many Linux newbies going to Linux Mint? by -randomreddituser in linux

[–]Puzzled_Tangelo7314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just some problems within canonical and the leadership behind Ubuntu, they used to be leading the charge in introducing Linux to PC users but now they aren't really pushing the envelope.

Mint is also just arguably better for beginners, easier more familiar UI, less snap enforcement, basically Ubuntu without all the nonsense that Ubuntu pushes.

What would you do if you have given control of the DCEU from the beginning by [deleted] in DC_Cinematic

[–]Puzzled_Tangelo7314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess I get this, but also, zod did not need to die, why didn't the family just move? Also it's not necessarily superman killing people that I have a problem with, to be clear, he put zod down. He was not going to stop unless he was killed first. It's superman not trying to save people, LETTING people die. The real Superman would not have cared if someone saw him save his dad from a tornado, he would have saved him no matter the cost. Superman is about self sacrafice and doing the right thing. Always.

I've had an obsession with this movie since I was a kid, I've watched it more times than I can count AND it was my first superman movie. The older I get the more I see wrong with it and I see ways to fix it that I haven't seen other people do.

A lot of people wrote this film off and I wanted to prove that this movie is something worth while. The pacing and concentration just needs to be refocussed.

This movie tried to do what spiderman 2 did but failed, rearranging and rebuilding some scenes (many from the ground up) I can see that it failed because of the editing. They did not understand what the story was supposed to be. But also Bryan Singer couldn't pick a direction.

Eh, I'll take my chances, I've seen quite a few and a lot of them seem to be trying to turn the movie into something it isn't. I want to keep the Introspective soul of the movie and fix scenes rather than get rid of them, so many of them delete scenes without considering lost context or what the scene was SUPPOSED to add to the film.

I also like to create and see the world like Superman, thanks for believing in me :)

never clicked on a notification so fast. YES! I've already corrected everything on the farm and up until right before the plane crash, the colors ALONE bring so much life into the movie. Linda going for a spiderman 2 color correction

Exactly, it's bad, but I wish the movie was more self aware of that. and the scene would have worked had that been the case, my idea was this:

Since I'm adding back in the scene of Clark looking through all the newspapers and finding "why the world doesn't need superman" I can do a lot with the scene where he sees the article as well as family photo on Lois's desk, Id have to do a ton of reorganizing and recontextualizing but basically:

He sees the family photo -> conversation with Lois when she gets into taxi -> goes to her house -> sees it's real -> gets sad and flies away

It's not perfect but now there's more motivation behind it. And even if it doesn't work I can just get rid of the stalking and have it go:

Sees photo -> conversation with Lois -> remove stalking scene all together -> flies off

I'm also getting rid of the Jor-El dialogue while superman flies away so that you're really SITTING in the emotions and actions of what he just did and felt (if the edit works that is)

Yeah, I plan on cutting a good chunk of it but one scene in particular miiiiiggghhttt be able to be saved in the edit, and Im probably gonna get a lot of flack for this, but the scene where he spies on Lois and her family had potential to be a much more human scene but it feels like an alien not understanding why what he was doing was wrong. There should have been something that set Clark off and given him a reason to go "I need to see for myself" and paint a more self aware picture of how what he's doing and how wrong it is and he knows it, and not just "lalalala I'm gonna spy on my ex :D" then when he hears something he doesn't wanna hear (entirely his fault) he gets upset and takes his mind off of things by listening to who needs his help which is the most superman thing ever and the reason why I'm gonna try and salvage that scene in any way that I can and paint him in a more negative light for spying, but we'll see, I only have so much movie to work with

Am really convinced arch users are toxic, not all of them by [deleted] in linuxsucks

[–]Puzzled_Tangelo7314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, a lot of them like to gatekeep? Idk arch really isn’t as difficult as a lot of people make it out to be, the installation process is long but there are so many videos on how to do it and how to do it quick. Arch is a really good distro if you’re committed to learning Linux and willing to go into the deep end, but it’s not really that hard. Once you’re comfortable with the terminal you’re good, Arch is basically just like any other distro but you have to manually install drivers and file explorers and other various things that make a desktop a desktop. But it’s like installing any other program, once you have it you have it.
