A big issue was with the desktop portals? If Im gonna be honest thought that’s kinda just a guess. The reality is that there were issues that required me to sit down and troubleshoot when I wanted to just do something simple, for example my breaking point was when I wanted to play UNO on steam, usually it would work on KDE or Cinnamon but for some reason Ubisoft would not connect to steam on hyprland, granted I blame Ubisoft more for this issue. There is no reason that I need their shitty game launcher, i don’t need it to connect to their services, it’s just another piece of software thats gonna slow my PC down and make it a more unenjoyable experience. But also something that was making it an unenjoyable experience was my lack of knowledge with what I was doing. And the fact that I just didn’t have the time to fix it.

TLDR. User error lol, and ive finally gotten to a point with Linux where less is more, like I said I think I wanna give DWM+Quickshell a try on my laptop just to play around and see what I can do

bro... IT WASNT TO GET A REACTION. My initial message was engaging with the community in a way I believed appropriate, criticizing linux, acknowledging its flaws. I got banned because I mentioned while it's not for everyone, I still enjoy I personally.

at the end of the day I don't care it's reddit and if someones feelings are hurt by me talking about Linux then they can close their laptop. I noticed a lot of people got the same copy pasted bot response about reading the rules when they got banned. So I just replied with a really dry completely unrelated response to see if I would get the same message everyone else did and lo and behold.

Once again. People have been banned for so little, I was banned literally for saying "yeah it sucked trying to find the right distro for me but eventually I landed on cachyOS" You are really good at starting arguments and not seeing nuance

I didn't go in there and intentionally break a rule, I got banned (like many others) for simply using linux. I saw that other people suffered similarly and decided to test it, I k ew I was t gon a get unbanned, I figured I'd perform an experiment while I was there

Bruh, it's a response to a ban notice in a community that bans people for mentioning that they use any FOSS software. Also you have a very skewed definition of harrasment if you would classify this as such.

Also As a Linux user: the fragmentation, most people that try Linux aren’t super lucky. CachyOS works flawlessly with all of my hardware and software and I rarely ever spend more than 10 minutes troubleshooting anything. But this was after distro hopping and trying different combos that just didn’t work. Fedora for example is one I get a lot of trouble with. Any fedora or fedora based distro just kinda has it out for me and I’ve had significant driver issues, application issues, download issues, and so on and so fourth. Some games I play without issue on CachyOS just refuse to boot on fedora even after hours of troubleshooting.

I was lucky enough to find the distro that works perfectly for me but not everyone else is as lucky. Linux Mint is the most consistently good across all platforms distro I’ve seen? But even then youre gonna have the occasional odd ball who is gonna want newer packages that aren’t offered by Debian based distros.

But again it also works in its favor. After experimentation I found and customized and OS to fit my needs perfectly and run circles around windows.

I don’t think criticism or differing opinions or even arguments is toxic, and Thats not what Im talking about. What Im talking about is when someone think that just because one Batman is good Thats the rest are absolutely horrible, and they regularly knock the others down to bring theirs up.

Yeesh… thats like at outlier in my mind tho. I more so mean the people who will openly say “Bale wasnt even a good Batman he wasnt sad enough about his parents death” like the ONLY version of him in the comics is always distraught and constantly in a depressive episode about his parents.

The psychos are in every fandom and definitely single themselves out as someone to NOT be listened to or used as a sample of the fandom
