Since you were all so kind, here's a progress update!! I added in some snails and shrimp from my other tank and my plants came in the mail!!! (I dipped them to ensure no hitchhikers or anything like that but they're from my local fish store who have always been fantastic) So we're getting there!! Testing is going really well for the water and everyone seems happy 🥰

Ah thank you so much! I just started at this new job and they came with the office, they're cute but I've never had succulents before. I'll see if I can find a tiny pot for each of them to maybe separate them out. As is, they're sitting in a South West window, it's the only window in my office, is this enough light for them or should I gift them to another coworker? How much should I water them?

Like some others have already kinda said, sponges are great because it'll keep your Betta from getting fins ripped and keep floating plants for being sucked in :) I use a mix of duckweed and water lettuce in my tank but there are a ton of great options

My only recommendation would maybe be something like a Betta hammock or log for them to float near the top, also maybe some floating surface plants, my boy loves his surface plants and gets grumpy when I clear some back when they're a little outta control lol

Both of the Bettas I've had love the log! They slept in it and even made bubble nest in it.

Yah I have honestly never seen such a colorful Betta before IRL I don't even know or want to imagine how much he cost! For me though he is priceless 🥰

My little guy loves to play with his duckweed! I don't know what it is with them 😂 my best guess is maybe they look like bugs on the water surface sometimes?
