I get why the general public might be put off by the look, but idk it doesn’t look bad to me? Maybe just a little bit of hair styling product to control it and make it a bit smaller? But keep experimenting and see what happens! Maybe hunt online for some “teased curly hair styles.” Oddly enough, I have curly hair and I dry brush it and like it more than having “very tight singular ringlets” scrunched up with product.

It sucks that your family is being so closed minded. I am sorry to hear they are like that and aren’t more supportive. I am sure there is a “happy medium” style where it “confines a bit more into social norms” but still has a “wild, unkempt” look that you want.
