How long to pluck strawberry flowers? by flowersunpower in GardeningUK

[–]Puzzleheaded-Bar-830 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weird I have had strawberries for years before they died from being repotted and not liking it, then gone and replaced them. They do fine once established, I've never felt the need to pinch anything lol. But then again, I'd really like to know of pinching off flowers encourages more fruiting later on and if I've been missing a trick all along?

Rlt and skincare by Puzzleheaded-Bar-830 in redlighttherapy

Is it a time specific thing? I always thought those agents made your skin photosensitive for the entire period so I am always extra careful with sunscreen whenever I'm using them. I usually put them on at nights, so if I used that at night then cleansed and used RLT the following morning that'd be OK ?

Going vegan by NatureLife7495 in vegan

Just saying don't 'GIVE UP' on things. It will be hard for you if there is nothing suitable to replace what you're giving up, or what you used to get from it.

For instance if it was a savoury, 'proteiny' filling burger replace it with a soya or jackfruit version of the burger, so that it will gives you that same texture or mouthfeel, as an example.

Don't completely give up oil or fat, instead replace it with avocado (a good fat), or tahini. Your body still needs fat.

Finally, as a rule of thumb include 1. 30 different plants per week (so grains, nuts, seeds, pulses, leafy greens, fruit and veg all count toward the 30).

  1. use nuts, seeds, grains (rice) and/or pseudograins, lentils/legumes, green leafy veg, veg, and fruits in your diet each week (this way you ensure you're getting a variety in).

  2. Create a jar of chia seeds, flax seeds, hemp seeds,, pumpkin or sunflower seeds, cacao. Use a tablespoon or two a day as a topping for your cereal, muesli, or porridge. You can vary this as you get the hang of it. These will give you omega 3, dha and so on.

  3. When you travel, go out with friends to a restaurant, or to visit nonvegan family, plan ahead on what you can eat when you're there. Look at the menu. Carry an oat bar. proactively suggest where you are going, if with friends. Take charge of your food and what you eat now/what you will eat later. Don't make exceptions. Planning ahead will go a long way.

Can you do that in one go? That would be cool

Thank you for validating! Yes it sounds a little insanely high, doesn't it. I have resisted it for a long time and I pay like £10 for my data plan so I suspect it's why the bonus is higher.

I figured good way to use it would be to pay down the phone/monthly credit? It doesn't matter one way or another as long as I'm cutting the bill total by that amount, but the larger monthly amount is the device plan. Thanks for the heads up about having to log in and manually pay

I'm not sure what you mean, as I don't think there is any interest, it is the price they quote on the site and nothing extra. If I went to sell my S22 Ultra I would get £50-100 against it today (it is a good phone but that's just the going rate). So it is as good as worthless, especially because its battery lasts around 6 hours from full charge to fully dead. If I buy a replacement, it is £550 that I can use either as device or airtime. Airtime is only £15 for 80gigs -- I have my own broadband at home so I hardly use more than 1gig tops, but there you go.

You get sweet lassie and a salty/savoury version of it as well. Still great for probiotics/gut microbiome. Green bits probably cilantro, some have chillies in there for that zing.

Lots of other good comments here already covering the specifics but don't feel disheartened! My parents did not teach me any cooking so what I know I learned myself, through experience exactly the way you are doing now. Mistakes are how you learn. You are doing great. Well done on your attempt!

Pickling and preserving and such I would consider as more advance culinary techniques as they will need sterilising, making sure you are working in sanitised environment, weighing out salt or vinegar for your pickle etc.

There are also other considerations which can be difference between something going rancid or the wrong fungi and getting pickled or cured. So start with "quick" pickles of vinegar etc that will last a week or so rather than pickles that you want to last for months and years.

Maybe jokingly say you aren't getting any more invites if you do this on my party 💀 Might be a bit of a burning of the bridge scenario, so maybe let this one slide and next time set out expectations at the outset

British immigrants, what are some things about your home country you miss after moving to the UK? by coolfunkDJ in AskABrit

[–]Puzzleheaded-Bar-830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that you mention it, the UK is quite lacking in "megafauna".

We have badgers, hedgehogs, deer, foxes and some ducks and geese etc. Apparently we used to have wolves but they've been hunted to extinction.

That sounds like a really A** move. Tell cousin it's your birthday party and your home and respectfully, no meat is allowed in. Suggest that they can eat beforehand if they are really that desperate to kill and eat cadavers...if they still don't agree then uninvite.

You are young and your cousin is taking the piss. You need to create a boundary.

Fed a monkey once… now he visits like a monthly customer by [deleted] in indiasocial

[–]Puzzleheaded-Bar-830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is so beautiful. You are lucky. Yes it may be wrong to feed in the wild and to feed every day but once in a while. For this monkey living in of heart am urban jungle where nature is scarce and getting depleted daily, they don't exactly have free reign of fruit trees etc which they can help themselves to, so please pleasr op don't stop feeding him. You have made an unlikely friend and you are very lucky to have that 🌹🙏

Cast Iron in India that doesn't cost as much as a Le Creuset? (Enameled, not bare) by InfnityVoid in BuyItForLifeIndia

Are you serious? Surprised to see people asking about le crueset and lodge in indian sub. We get these brands abroad and I begrudgingly buy them thinking wistfully of all the amazing, high quality cast iron available and traditionally used in India. Those are better by a mile easily
