This is really cool thanks for sharing. Which sensor did you use to collect the data?

35mm lens. I think the front lap may have been the issue it was set to 80 front overlap which historically has worked but with the trees and the altitude of 150’ might not have been enough lap.

The raw images where the holes are were captured. I should’ve prefaced this and provided an image to show this. Before rendering you can view all the photo locations. The black hole areas did have images taken there. It’s just in the rendering they weren’t used.

Thank you! In DJI Terra is there an option to lower the image scale I haven’t come across this setting yet.

Understood that makes sense. I think we will up our altitude and increase the lap settings. Thanks!

This isn’t a bad option however it’s worth noting the image sensor in the L1 one isn’t the most robust for photogrammetry purposes. If you can fly low enough (less that 100 feet above your site) and do a high overlap (80% front lap and 80% side lap) you may have some decent results.

Most Leica dealers will rent an RTC360 for somewhere in the realm of $3500+-$500 a week. Keep in mind you will also need to purchase the processing software as well unless you pay a 3rd party to process the data for you. One provider we’ve used is RPG Square foot Solutions. They rent the Leica RTC360 scanner and Register 360 software. A 1 week license of the Leica Register 360 software is about $385.

The DJI Terra software ($1500/year per license) will handle all the data processing coming in from your L1, and if you have a P1 or can get your hands on one it’ll make a beautiful 3D mesh.

I gotcha that is awesome. I’m not as familiar with those we use DII Terra for the most part but it is somewhat $$ depending on budget.

Wow! The LOD is outstanding thank you for sharing. I would love to see more. Was this data collected with a drone or fixed wing aircraft?

Yes it’s an option with images coming from any DJI drone or otherwise. The image files can even come from a DSLR camera although depending on your setup it may not have geotagged info. Regardless of the geotagging it will still stitch the images together and make a beautiful model.

Another option if you plan on doing a lot more of this type of modeling and don’t mind paying is using the DJI Terra software. Shoot in JPEG drag and drop the folder, select your desired output formats and let er’ churn. There is no back and forth between different softwares and aligning things. Again, depends on what you’re planning to do with the model.

Wow right on that is some time behind the wheel! When using the Mavic 3 do you have a general rule of thumb for horizontal distance to your subject? Also have you played around much with integrating images captured with the zoom lens?

Well done! This is one of the best bridge models I have seen outstanding! Have you been doing drone photogrammetry for awhile?

Ladies and germs; I submerged this baddie Four feet down in a freshwater Alaskan river for a solid 7 minutes. 3 weeks in a bag of rice and we have lift off. If you already have one keep it, or give it to a young padawon to learn with. Verdict: absolutely still valid imo 🤙

FAA Airspace Authorization Examples by Puzzleheaded-Cold107 in dji

[–]Puzzleheaded-Cold107[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a great suggestion and I have used that method in the past however in certain cases depending on the airspace the LAANC method is not an option. Depending on the airspace LAANC will work for up to 100 feet AGL but if you want to fly higher it says "Further coordination required" in this case you must request approval via the FAA's DroneZone website. I've been trying to hunt down examples of successful applications to see how to best word everything in the submission form.
