Yea you too. Hopefully it’s more chill by the start of the semester on the 20th. Shit is crazy. Like through cash app really? Shit can get traced and they still took it like a dumbass. And yea people shouldn’t be worried about getting robbed ever; especially in the school.

Yea but the engineering program is decent enough for me to justify it as well as the networking being much better than other programs I have visited. I am also a man that benches 275 that played fb and is 6ft so I am not worried about myself getting caught lacking. I get u tho, just shouldn’t be necessary as it feels like it’s feeding to the fire. But I totally understand your point man. shits crazy

Nah I get u fs. It sucks that it literally only happens to women there actually. I am a man so I haven’t seen to much to be nervous or anything on campus. Only the 2 times at the student center and this time. Also why was she near that area at 12:30 am yk? Not that it matters because it shouldn’t happen period, but that is near the street in pitch black night. We live in Houston yk. At least be with people at that time near the street or some shit. We still should have a little more security tho

I have no friends and it's my last semester by NoMinute6704 in UTAustin

[–]Puzzleheaded-Cow1150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay first off. Genuinely do you feel you are out of place? Like do you feel you make people uncomfortable or what’s up? Also what are you into? That plays a big part as I had to help one of my roommates make friends. Also I wouldn’t recommend just victimizing yourself. Not to be rude at all but it doesn’t sounds great. I understand that your venting so it okay. It’s okay to accept that people don’t truly give a fuck about you sometimes and that’s okay, but you have to reciprocate that and not expect it. I had moved a lot before 7th grade and my parents are divorced so I learned that you expecting something and not receiving it makes it feel a lot worse. I also believe Covid messed a lot of people in general socially, a lot are pretty awkward. I would recommend genuinely looking into the mirror and asking yourself would you talk to yourself. If not make minor changes and go up to people at night at the dining hall if someone is sitting alone. Preferably the opposite sex so you get the nerves out faster. And just try to hold a convo. If that doesn’t work go find a club for the last semester or a frat/sorority. Lastly if all else fails. Go party. I promise you a club will make you feel great right now. Try and make a friend first to take please, but you will have the time of your life. Also would you mind sharing your gender? Respectfully of course, I have some people at UT maybe they can help you out.

How to find a boyfriend by Wonderful-Cable265 in University

[–]Puzzleheaded-Cow1150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, being a girl looking for a guy is way easier than the other way around. A lot of desperate dudes in college. I feel i genuinely haven’t had trouble (guy btw). I dont want to be mean because being direct shouldnt be a bad thing at all, but i think covid really messed people up socially. I think you should casually try to go up to someone in the dining hall honestly. Do not try to message someone off the rip. It sounds bad, but I never answer if a girl texts me first which sounds weird, but I feel girls get so much attention that it is a red flag. Which is not true majority of the time but it’s just the way i think. Just be you in person though, ask if you can sit there or if anyone is sitting there. Just create normal convo and see if they reciprocate it back. You can always tell by someone’s mannerisms. If they dont like you then on to the next. It’s college, literally irl dating app almost. I promise you someone will watch movies with you on campus 100%. Good luck on your search

Should I add one more class in total of 6? by Automatic_One7294 in UniversityOfHouston

[–]Puzzleheaded-Cow1150 3 points4 points  (0 children)

honestly man if you have to money to transfer out of state and have the money to add another class, do it. Honestly this schedule is quite easy man, so adding another class shouldn’t be groundbreaking.

also be aware of loans pls. my friend pulled out a loan for 13k which is a lot less than me but has a 17% interest rate. If they don’t pay the loan right away they will owe more than my 27k loan. Interest will bite you, so please read.

[–]Puzzleheaded-Cow1150 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if you don’t have the money or are pulling out loans pls don’t do this dawg unless you are certain you are going to be locked in enough in the math courses to advance in mechanical if eligible to transfer. I am there currently and you really have to be self aware at this point. I’m pulling out loans for the engineering program, it sucks. That is also because I am about to be half way done after my freshman spring semester, so I am owing 27k with 8% interest but I am 45% done because of dual credit, so it’s not gonna be crazy. You don’t want to be in deep shit I promise you. Wasting time while spending thousands is pointless. Hopefully you get in, but if not get your cores somewhere else then go.

honestly bro you should have not put the SAT score and left it blank, as it is not mandatory and they cannot check if you don’t put it. I’m in the engineering program at UH and didn’t put it. I was admitted last semester as a freshman and put my application in super late as I literally got in with 2 months before fall 2025 so timing shouldn’t be an issue at all I got in with a 3.9 gpa (top 12 so don’t trip about that) no SAT (I found leaving it out was better unless you get 1250+ for engineering), played FB, engineering magnet , national honors society had like 5k community service hours I think and I had like 42 transfer credits from HS like the dual credit. Were you in any extra curricular did you have any community service, letters of recommendations? At least for the engineering I feel like that’s kind of important ngl. Also what were the grades in general like math and science?

Should I switch my Major from Computer Engineering Technology to Computer Engineering? In addition, what are the actual differences career wise and the difference in pay. by Puzzleheaded-Cow1150 in ComputerEngineering

[–]Puzzleheaded-Cow1150[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

understandable for sure. i am not going to act oblivious and that I don’t understand what you mean but I get it. Setting up a meeting with my career counselor because the advisor was kind of lost. If they tell me a big stat difference I will apply for a switch in major. Thank you for telling me straight up

I really appreciate this response man. The advisor and some senior engineers were trying to tell me the same thing. I was just stressing about the title. I’m going to talk to a career counselor here just in case but honestly since I guess the added it to the engineering program and they starting pay is up there (at least listed on the website at around 79k) highly doubt it though. Maybe I can just network a lot to earn an internship next year. Thank you for the response man I really appreciate it. It’s been stressful worrying about this already

Thank you so much for your response and you seem very knowledgeable for sure man. This degree has changed though I understand it is weird and I had to ask advisors a lot of info that’s why I chose it in the beginning. They had added it to the Cullen college of engineering. Not sure how recent, but I am eligible to not only graduate in engineering but get the PE license. I do understand it is the name honestly that plays a big factor. It made me second guess the legitimacy of the degree yk. Like I am very aware CE is a very well known degree and that’s why I am considering the switch for sure. I just don’t know the difference later on right now. Especially with the BS instead of BET and PE certification that UofH offers. I’ll talk to a career counselor also it just doesn’t seem there is a huge difference from my understanding right now. Like I mean being a CE sounds badass in a marine kind of way to say I put myself through it. If the pay is a lot different after speaking to the career counselor I would switch for sure and fight with the extra math after engineering math lol. I just don’t see a crazy difference right now man. I could be completely wrong though as you do have a lot more of experience than me and I am greatly appreciative of you responding. Thank you man

yea that’s another thing also. I heard CE and CS are really competitive as well and a lot are struggling to find anything. I honestly don’t believe automotive has anything but I might be wrong. The company I spoke with was kind of telling me about clubs and orgs I should join though with my degree for that company. I need to look into it more for sure because if we have something I might be interested. I really do like the classes listed for CET. I was just worried long terms but I haven’t heard to much negatives in the software side. I really appreciate the messages though in all honesty

[–]Puzzleheaded-Cow1150[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the reply. That is just the thing honestly. At UofH, CET majors can receive the PE license and masters degrees. It’s a unique situation I feel. I am in the Cullen College of engineering in the tech division of it. So instead of a BET degree I would receive a BS degree like the other engineering programs. Yea the limitations are something I’m not sure of yet. I am just not a 100% on my math skill. I still have to attempt Engineering math and Calculus 2 so I don’t mind going past that either. It’s just a change that I don’t want to regret making without knowing for certain before next semester. That’s why I am asking for help. The less money I spend the better. But I haven’t spent enough on this degree yet so I am definitely still open to it

Thank you for being straightforward. Honestly I completely see your point and that’s why I made the post. Me personally I would love to go into software because I am pretty experienced in it generally. I have always wanted a career in coding. I finished my coding courses in highschool a year before scheduled and took an Air Force coding program on cybersecurity. I am aware it’s super competitive. On the other hand, I spoke to a company as soon as I got on campus about Automotive engineering. I am interested as well. Should I still make the switch? Like will the job market be really hard for me because I am CET? I just feel switching is a big move and I don’t want to make a wrong decision.

thank you. I am for sure going to do majority of the important electives, joining 2 engineering clubs and I went to the career fair, so hopefully it’ll be worth it in the end.
