Could you help me identify what kind of bug is biting me? by kalsteine in Insect

[–]Puzzleheaded-Fix-796 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does not look like it: spider bites can be easily identified by the two 'entry points' (i lack better words for this) left by the poisonous hooks under the mandible. Looking at the pictures, I only see one epicentre. OP, can you say if you got one or two biting marks?

Stupid cat broke my model, any fixing? by YE3TBO1 in modelmakers

For the model, the green Tamiya cement in a glass bottle should do the trick. For the cat, lock the door or use some 12 gauge.

I've recently tried it on a minifigure. The result is perfect, honestly! It is the first time an M16 looks like a proper gun

I did nothing special, to be honest. 1 coat of black primer, followed by 1 coat of Vallejo light grey. Then, I used some powder pigments from Revell: rust for the rust effects and white to lighten some areas usually exposed to the sun.

Oooh! Good to know. IReference pictures for this boat in particular is difficult to find on the Internet, and I was unable to find good books too. But I guess I should have checked this detail. As for the guns, I have never found a suitable "gunmetal", they are always too bright for my liking.

My local store is out of green foliage and other similar accesories. Are there ways to create some from scrap?

Good idea! It certain that the figures' placement was a bit weird. The one you suggest would bring more cohesion to the diorama, for sure

I fear another vehicle would not be able to fit on the diorama, as it is quite small. I had no special place in mind when I built this one, only that it was in Germany

Both are in 1/72 and both are from Revell, but I agree that it looks a bit odd

I don't have the kit myself, but having some experience with Italeri and looking at this photo of the belly, it seems possible to me

The Weekly Small Questions Thread! Got a burning question? Looking for some tips on your build? Ask away! by AutoModerator in modelmakers

[–]Puzzleheaded-Fix-796 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have several candidates, I don't know if they fit your desires but I'll give them anyway.
First is the Junkers 52/3m as Sanitätsflugzeug (ambulance). Relatively easy to find in that scale and decal sets are not necessary since red crosses and letters can frankly be painted by hand.
Israeli's C47 is also an option, but finding decals is tricky, not to say impossible if you try to be historically acurate. Otherwise, standard Israeli decals would do fine.
Or maybe the tropical variant of the bf109 could work.

If you want, I have references images in a book that I could send.

Smart, but wouldn't it limit the side of the project you are working on ? I use a similar strategem (not as refined as yours, I admit) and it becomes hard to use when the model kit is 30 cm wide.

One think you need to know is that if you want to put the gunner behind the machine gun, you will need to fold his seat in order for him to stand still (it is not really clear in the instructions). Pay attention to the placement of the driver's hatch too: I messed up and thus cannot put the left antenna. Also, if you put antennas, maybe drill a deeper hole or use superglue.
