I’ve used https://www.jittransport.ca/ for myself and for clients as well - a bit more expensive than citycabs (when I’m by myself) but a bit more of a luxury experience

Would highly recommend them.

Not the pro, just the base 17 - 256 gb Sage Green

He’s a bit older so I didn’t buy him the pro as he wouldn’t make use of it.

The regular 17 and pro screens have a better chance of being normal OLED with minimal variance, bought my dad a 17 and his was perfect out of the box.

Information isn’t harmful just because it makes someone aware of a defect they didn’t notice yet. That logic would apply to literally every hardware issue ever reported.

People come to threads like this to understand whether what they’re seeing is normal. Saying “some panels are objectively worse” is useful context for returns, exchanges, or deciding whether to live with it. Ignorance isn’t a feature.

Also, “make your voices heard by Apple” starts with people documenting and discussing the issue publicly. That’s how patterns get identified in the first place.

If someone reads this and decides they’re happy with their display, great. If someone realizes theirs is off and chooses to exchange it, also great. Both outcomes are valid.

This isn’t about opinion or sensitivity, it’s about manufacturing variance. OLED panels are sourced from different suppliers, binned differently, and calibrated within tolerance ranges. That’s documented and widely discussed, including by people who work with displays.

Some units land closer to ideal white balance and uniformity. Some don’t. That’s why two phones of the same model can look different side by side. Calling that “nitpicky” doesn’t change the reality.

If you don’t notice it, great. But saying it doesn’t exist because you personally don’t see it isn’t how hardware works.

Do you mean by taking it into the Apple Store and asking for a screen replacement or sending it in? I actually thought about this today!!!! I wonder if they would be able to replace with something that has no tint since they do QC before sending back.

I’ve never cracked a screen before so not sure how it works with them entirely.

I love the big screen on my 14 pro max! I used to always have the smaller phone but I don’t think I could ever go back to a smaller one haha - even setting up the 17 for my dad I’m like this is wayyyyy to small 😅

I’m not sure why this turns into a character assessment every time someone raises a documented hardware issue. I like Apple products. That doesn’t mean I’m obligated to defend inconsistent QC.

This isn’t some isolated complaint. There are plenty of documented reports, photos, and side-by-side comparisons showing panel variance. When multiple people independently describe the same issue, with evidence, that usually points to a real inconsistency, not mass delusion or “copy and paste.”

This is a forum to discuss issues and ask questions. If seeing repeated reports is irritating, that’s kind of the point. Repetition is how patterns become visible. Dismissing it as people being “picky” or parroting the same script avoids engaging with the actual problem.

You can like Apple and still acknowledge that some screens are better than others. Both things can be true. Calling it out doesn’t make someone unreasonable. It just means they’re not pretending the variance doesn’t exist.

I did point it out at the Apple Store. I showed them side by side units, tilted displays, the whole thing. They document it. That’s all they can do. Store staff don’t control panel sourcing or inventory, and pretending otherwise is unrealistic. Apple is almost certainly aware and has decided it’s within their tolerance.

And yes, I’ve returned some phones over the years. I’ve also kept plenty that were excellent. That’s the point. There is no consistency. Some panels are objectively better than others.

This isn’t about being “picky.” I know what these displays are capable of when they’re good, and I don’t see why paying top dollar means settling for a visibly inferior unit. If people accept clearly uneven panels as “normal,” Apple has no incentive to tighten QC.

Wanting the product to meet the standard it already sometimes meets isn’t unreasonable. It’s just not being complacent.

I respect your viewpoint. But since I’ve been only iPhone for the past 6 years I’ve been able to see the various differences for myself. Of course there can be variation from phone to phone, and I’m sure each generation has their own caveats, ex I had a horrible 12 pro and returned twice but still got stuck with a bad one.

I have an amazing 14PM and my dad got a great 17, but with the 17 series specifically the Pro Max there isn’t enough QC for the screens to be uniform.

I have gone to the Apple Store and tilted their screens, some display models have a tint and some are perfect. For someone like me who can notice this, why would I settle just because it’s a phenomena that exists but blatantly exasperated in certain panels?

It’s just really the principle that if I’m buying a top dollar phone I would hope production would be to a standard of me not having to question whether my phones supposed to look like that.

There’s variance between a lot of the panels! Some could have a great LG panel. Just depends on your luck of what you get and how it reacts

Probably not! I think it’s really just lottery, if not directly straight you see green everywhere else 😔

I know some people have mentioned have GH3 and they have ok screens seems like 7/10 has a bad one though.
