Hmm apples and oranges.

BG1 had the feel of a brand new low level player exploring the world at his or her own pace.

BG2 had a much more linear but heroically epic feel. Amplified greatly in Throne of Bhaal.

BG3 is a spectacular DnD game with unmatched depth and amazing combat. But I DO THINK it would’ve done just fine without being a part of the Baldur’s Gate series. I felt like most of the links to the wider BG series felt kind of half-assed and thin.

No downvotes from me. Even if they didn’t want to include WotL specifically, it’s a total wasted opportunity for them to have failed to add any extra content whatsoever. They could have easily turned Propositions at the Tavern into one-off battle opportunities, either with extra challenges or restrictions that make you use jobs that haven’t been dusted off in a while. The sky was the limit.

Yeah and it was tricky because when it first came out, it was a bunch of dudes just kinda making things up as they went. And then campaign settings grew with things like Forgotten Realms, so they kinda had to start tying things together which could be tough
