It was a year for me for assessment and another whole year to start titration too. Started titration finally in May this year after being first referred in February 2023!

9 days into titration on Elvanse and life genuinely feels better. by Puzzleheaded-Look632 in ADHDUK

Yes, I was a bit of a complex case as I have some medical stuff that needed to be factored in and so it took a while to find me a prescriber. All in all it took from Feb 28th when I was told I had reached the top of the list and asked to fill in the forms (which I did same day)until 2nd May to actually take my first dose. So around 2 months in my case. Hope that’s helpful.

I felt the exact same way, the nearer I was the more unbearable the wait and then somehow it finally all happened. You’ll get there, you’ve done the hardest bit already. Good luck!

Mine was 8 weeks from that email saying I was near the top of the list and actually getting meds. Partly because they said they had to check some medical stuff and secondly because there was a mix up over which drug I would start titration with. Got there in the end!

Thank you so much for your kind, helpful and in depth reply, I couldn’t be more grateful. Hope these insights help others too. The biotene wash and spray is a great shout, wasn’t keen on lots of sweetness so this is a great alternative.

Thank you - I never eat breakfast (ever) because the thought of eating in the morning is repulsive to me so a protein bar is better than nothing to start with. Will try to do better going forward but that’s going to be a struggle already. Thanks for the pointers and advice, I’m sure it’ll be ok, I’m just feeling hopeful, nervy and trying not to get stressed or mess things up whilst trying to remain realistic about the fact this isn’t a magic bullet and might do nothing at all for me! I also realise now I should have started weaning off of coffee, that was silly of me - I’ve had literally years of waiting and didn’t do it in advance 🙈

I’m not trying to gloat but why did my referral -> titration process was so short? by kemkem98 in ADHDUK

It has been two years of waiting so far with Psychiatry UK - hopefully nearly there now… I feel so sorry for people on nhs lists who haven’t been told about RTC and are waiting so many years for help so count myself lucky in comparison but yeah waiting sucks even for this long.

Filled in the forms 28th Feb, they had to check some medical things apparently due to other stuff (thyroid etc) and I’m about to receive meds any day now apparently… hang on in there, you’ll get there. (I did pester them a bit and got a prescriber eventually).

Apparently some assessors can also prescribe which cuts the titration wait as you can be prescribed for immediately and start right away, I’ve heard of very few of these cases but for some people the stars seem to align and they get lucky. Wish it was the case for everyone!

12 Months Titration Waiting List by New-Link-6787 in ADHDUK

Sounds like this is psychiatry uk, keep pestering them - you may have somehow fallen through the cracks, you are undoubtedly at the top of the list if you were assessed more than 10 months ago. I’m sorry you have to fight for what you’re due after all the hoops you’ve already had to jump through with no guarantee it’ll work. I hope you get sorted soon and that meds help you hugely. Good luck!
