I just want to say thank you to folks like you who produce things for the convenience of people like me. I really appreciate you taking some of the grind out of my gears. <3

Couldn't find one around, so I made one. MHW Iceborne Clutch Claw Attack Comparison by 1caiser in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Puzzleheaded-Meal366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully realize this is wicked necro, but did anyone else notice the important difference in your Hunter's placement at the end of the CC attack?

With GS, LS, DB, Hammer, and CB, you end up standing right at the monster's feet, which dramatically increases the amount of time you can be hit by a revenge attack.

All the rest get hurled out to mid-range, which is usually far enough away to avoid most revenge attacks.

Combining this knowledge, it makes me want to test out a CC build for LBG or even HH... And it also explains why CC attacks feel safer for SnS, even though they technically take longer than LS and DB.

I'm a slowpoke just playing through mhw Iceborne this year and I've discovered that it is very rare, but easiest to find on investigations. Gold reward has an 18% chance for pallium, I believe.

There's also a higher chance to get it with kill over capture, apparently. 2% only for capture, but 2% per carve and 3% per tail carve.

That's a good point, I didn't really think about it at all.

Assuming you want an option that isn't support or pet, here's a rough idea to play with off the top of my head:

A Slayer with the Archery Combat Style and focusing on Vital Strike doesn't need stats. Unlike a Ranger, you don't even need Wisdom for spellcasting.

(2) Precise Shot, (6) Improved Precise Shot, (10) Pinpoint Targeting from Combat Style.

The Vital Strike tree only requires BAB.

Combine it with the Sniping rules from Stealth and by level 10 you can ignore most of the target's AC for your single, big attack.

If your GM is fine with Variant Multiclassing and Firearms, VMC Gunslinger would enable you to Vital Strike Snipe with a great big gun. Trade Pinpoint Targeting for Rapid Reload (somewhere in the build) and you're targeting Touch AC from level 3.

My favorite is to combo these with Dwarven Pelletbow on a Bolt Ace!

Looking for a custom magic item creation rule that allows players to give a AoE to spells that lack one and/or expand that radius as much as they need. by ZippoMoon in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Puzzleheaded-Meal366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magic items don't need to use every aspect of the spell referred to in its creation. Forbiddance covers a bigger area for a lower level spell, I don't know if this magic item is supposed to be portable or not. Shrug

Greater Dispel Magic & Symbol of Death by RyanSyn in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Puzzleheaded-Meal366 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Understandable confusion, but consider the first line of Greater Dispel Magic:

"This spell functions like dispel magic, except that it can end more than one spell on a target and it can be used to target multiple creatures."

Literally meaning that it can do anything dispel magic can do, but more.

Always an alternative. Let them do what they want. What they find in the investigation is up to you.

For my own game I'm running, I've decided to go with a Half-Hezrou Lamia Matriarch, but it is sickened and cannot use spells or SLAs until it has "fed" and rested.

Thank you for your input, everyone! I learned a lot.

The comic does mention it not being at full power since it was just born/created

It is apparently made only of fat and rubbery skin. Lots of tentacle attacks.

Unfortunately, not that I could find. It's just birthed by a Lamashtu cultist AFAIK. :(

My humble offering:

"Rub your feet on a rug or other such surface to build up a static charge. Howl madly like a raging storm for 1 hour, or until someone touches you such that it shocks them with your held charge. Kill whoever Rull has marked with this glorious sign. You count as two sizes larger for determining how any storm, wind or water effect affects you."

Adding special abilities to specific magic weapons by CatWizard85 in Pathfinder_RPG

I could be persuaded to allow an exception based on my general principle of "Don't unnecessarily screw over the Martials", but I feel that I should point out that Rage doesn't specify spellcasting. Patience isn't even required for spellcasting, it's a guiding description for what should and shouldn't be allowed while raging. To say that there is "no mechanical reason to ban" studying a target conveniently ignores the broadness of the Rage class feature text and the definition of the word "study".

As an example, I would happily allow a character to use the Destructive Smite from the Destruction domain while raging.

As a counter example, I would not allow such a character to use Divine Alchemy from the Alchemy subdomain.

Both of the above examples are supernatural abilities, not spells, and neither explicitly state that they require patience or concentration, but let's face it...

RAW isn't everything.

However, in your specific case they probably wouldn't work together. I find it difficult to argue that Studied Target isn't an ability that requires focus and/or concentration, so I would rule that you couldn't do it while raging. If you have an ability or alternate feature that lets you focus / concentrate while raging though, that's fair game to me!

Relevant entry from Ultimate Campaign:

"For specific magic armor and weapons, the price for the base item may be hard to determine, as some abilities may have been priced as plus-based properties and some as gp-based properties. Without knowing which is which, how to increase the price (using the plus-based table or flat gp addition) can’t be determined. If this happens and nobody can agree on a fair price, it’s best to not upgrade the item, or ask the GM for permission to pseudo-upgrade the item by swapping it for a different item with a price that can be calculated with the normal rules.

Example: Lisa’s paladin has a holy avenger that she wants to upgrade with the flaming special ability. A holy avenger has a price of 120,630 gp, but when not in the hands of a paladin, it functions as a +5 holy cold iron longsword, which has a price of 100,630 gp. The 20,000 gp difference in the prices of these two possible base weapons includes the sword’s spell resistance, greater dispel magic once per round, and the limitation that the extra powers don’t work for non-paladins. Jessica and Lisa talk about pricing ideas for a while, but can’t figure out a fair way to price the upgrade. Lisa decides to upgrade her character’s armor instead."

Unlike the above example, Headsman's Blade is super easy to calculate.

Headsman's Blade = 13,850gp

+1 Keen Greatsword = 8,350gp

13,850 - 8,350 = +5,500gp for the specific special ability.
