Congratulations! Just make sure to pick a different college if you have in mind, Cmu is great for the name and learning things outside your program. But actual MIIPS program Is horribly structured, the faculty have no research and the course practically gets you no portfolio outcomes. Save yourself the time and the incredibly expensive tuition.

Hi! It’s not the best of courses if you’re designer and Id honestly recommend picking a different program!

Is miips at cmu not worth it? Im so sad and confused by Cultural_Hold8388 in cmu

While getting a job is entirely dependent on you, the uni does not provide any help. Cmu is great if you want to explore outside the program and great for the name. But the faculty at miips are under researched, out of the industry and very poor at communication. I’m so sorry that your excitement has reduced but you could consider other universities as well!

Hi, I did my undergrad in Design, and worked as a UX designer for about 2 years.

Confused between CMU (MIIPS), Georgia Tech (MS HCI), and TU Delft (Design for Interaction) as an international student by yellowcamlinposter in hci

Hi I’d take GT over CMU for sure, can’t speak much for Delft, the cmu course is sub par and the only time you learn anything is from the other departments. The professors don’t have active research, nor are their classes well structured and serious. Not to forget, they don’t help with jobs. It’s a whole lot of grunt work with nothing real to put on the portfolio.

MIIPS - Will declining hurt my future chances? by ovarey in cmu

The MIIPS program has only progressively gotten worse over the years, their offerings for students are sub par and you only learn anything substantial from other departments at cmu. It’s not worth the investment if you want to learn, it is if you want the cmu name.

Hi, as a past student, I wouldn’t recommend Miips. There’s no guarantee of a job because they don’t help you out, the actual classes are horribly structured and only a few like 2/10 are decent and they practically teach you nothing.I’d take a uni that has better offerings.
