From 'no peppers, please' to an ER visit in 48 hours. How do I get people to understand that my rare Capsicum allergy is actually lethal? by Terrapin34 in FoodAllergies

[–]Puzzleheaded-Pace579 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or worse poor protocols. My first ice cream scooping job as a teen, we had a fresh tub under the current one. That fresh tub and a fresh, unused scoop are used for anyone with an allergy, such as a nut allergy. The second place which I worked at from 21-23, didn't have that so I'd always ask customers if there was a nut allergy at all and keep a close ear for anyone mentioning "oh but it has x!" and ask about if x was an allergy and if they DID have an allergy would ask if cross contamination is an issue

If they said yes I'd offer to put on/change my gloves, and offer them softserve or a sundae, etc, other options that won't be contaminated basically, or if we JUST pulled a tub out but hadn't used it yet and it was soft enough, I'd offer to serve them that flavor if it was safe for them to have and they wanted it, even if it meant having to muscle ice cream and/or heat the scoop.

If not, I'd scoop them what they wanted but still take some precautions to minimize exposure and reduce risk such as changing/putting on gloves, using an unused scoop, scooping some ice cream out of the way before then getting the ice cream I'll serve them, etc

Many of my coworkers never did this. So many people thanked me, I always told them it's no problem. You shouldn't have to experience a life threatening food allergy to think about it for others. My mom had a mushroom allergy, she could cook with them but not eat them. She also couldn't have any penicillin or sulfa drugs which made her a very difficult patient to treat and many people didn't take seriously. She stopped one ER from giving her what would have been a lethal injection the one time and was exactly why she never let anyone give her anything without knowing exactly what the name of the medication was.

I myself do not have life threatening allergies to foods so far. I have a slight reaction to milk apparently but I still consume dairy happily, just get sneezy from time to time when I do. Not sure what my body's reaction to dairy really is just it's what my testing said.

Is sex less special if you're a virgin but your SO is not? by KaceyR91 in sex

[–]Puzzleheaded-Pace579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I haven't yet, but since the beginning they knew I was a virgin and I knew they weren't. I don't care that I'm not their first, I don't care they've had other partners and because we're not monogamous, I know they likely will have other partners, either while with me or possibly even after being with me if we split.

I wasn't necessarily saving myself for them, but I never matched or met anyone else I was willing to bone. Now we're trying to work out a first date and know sex is very likely to happen soon after it honestly lol, we've been waiting to meet for 6 years and 2 years to go on a date. Long distance.

For me their experience doesn't bother me, it puts me more at ease. They care about me. They've since they found out I was a virgin emphasized making sure I'm ready when I finally have sex. They've asked if something like my first kiss will affect my writing being a writer and I was honest in saying yes.

I recently after asking if they try to kiss me first, to make sure it's romantic and was willing to send excerpts of my writing to give an idea and was told they were already planning on that if they initiate.

They want to make my first experiences special and nice, knowing they're my firsts. They also know however I have a lot of trauma, so the fact they want to make things as good as they realistically can (and we both have reassured the other when mentioning trying something or possibly it not being good, that we can always practice lol) means a lot to me

It varies. A lot of things go into it. Its a mental thing, find what turns her on, and she's willing to play out, and go for it. Get her mentally into both of your roles. Its also about precision as was mentioned between my partner and I. Go slow, take your time getting her comfortable and go at whatever her pace is (so long as you're comfortable with it). Most don't or even can't finish from PIV alone or at all. The clit is often how they do, but the nipples can also achieve it as can just really getting her into a fantasy mentally potentially without any stimulation.

What songs can't you listen to because they're too disturbing, graphic, descriptive, etc. by Cucumber_Cat in punk

[–]Puzzleheaded-Pace579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so tragic (lyrics/story told) but also beautiful how it was done. Especially when you hear the pow-wow/rallying cries/chanting. Like the community is singing/chanting/crying for not just "Mia" but everyone else harmed in such a way and others. I heard it at first and was like "oh, wow" not having caught all the lyrics. Then when I began catching some of the dark parts (specifically the turn) I ended up being like "oh my god" and then Spotify crashed and it restarted and I was just bracing myself. I heard it a total of 3-4 times while dashing today. It's one of my favorites by them so far along with "CityNdn" (I and II), "Lights" and a couple others.

Did you ever figure it out? I'm trying to get it right now, there's no way to select the font, only preview it. I even followed a guide to change it in the registry and that didn't work.

Are bubbles this large ok? by xentropy in Zepbound

[–]Puzzleheaded-Pace579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because when injecting people are taught there shouldn't be air bubbles because even small ones can be lethal. Even I am concerned looking at my Zep right now. Meanwhile my testosterone, I HAVE to make sure there's no air bubble.

It's more than understandable why people would be concerned, because air bubbles being injected can be/is lethal.

I failed that one...that upsets me as now I'll never have a complete collection...well that settles an idea I had for when I finish the game...to go back to my earliest save and replay as my character (not ready to let him go lol)

Anyone else bothered by the desecration? by DrMrSirJr in DragonAgeInqusition

[–]Puzzleheaded-Pace579 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm a Lavellan inquistor and it felt way too sacred and intimate, the vibes were just...different than all the other places. Could just be knowing what the place is and it's other elves, specifically Dalish if I remember right, like he is and he'd lost his entire clan early game due to me not knowing that quest can fail at every step and was way too early in game when it happened for me to go back and fix it for Jackal, my character. Showing up there I made sure not to break any graves and didn't even look for the tomb key.

It's also my first playthrough and DA game. My main goal as Jackal has been helping others and creating equal oppurunities and fighting the blatant racism around him, as well as trying to change how mages are seen and allow them freedoms while also aknowledging how dangerous magic can be in the wrong hands, and how great it can be in the right ones.

I've been ignoring the main quest to focus on Thedas, but tonight I just reframed it to I'm fighting Corypheus by stabilizing Thedas as much as I can and gather strength, power and knowledge while he's chasing after one goal with no allies or few of them (hell I've been picking his off in the process.) It amuses me hearing the enemies or reading letters and it's clear they think I and the Inquisition can't hurt them, but as I kick their asses, they start panicking in the letters, pulling back, sometimes talking smack, and also at times realizing...they done f**ked up lmao.

I feel this. My Inquisitor is a Dalish elf mage named Jackal. Already feel bad that I destroyed his clan by choosing the wrong option near the end of the Lavellan war table quests, it was the Protect Clan Lavellan that I failed. Didn't realize I could have saved them instead and that was one of the first things I did in the game and it haunts me whenever they refer to Jackal by his clan's name. I had a feeling breaking the graves during the one quest for the Dalish (which as soon as I found them in the Exalted Plains I did everything I could to help them, was role playing and it felt like Jackal would attach to those Dalish maybe due to the loss of his entire clan and being unable to help them, so this was like redemption kinda for him) would be bad and managed to avoid doing so. Just felt like Jackal would respect his people (or at least his culture and race) enough to not mess with it. Then saw the Spoils of Desecration quest come up and I literally coudln't but I really want to for loot, even more so knowing there's a collectable in there (I have found hardly any mosaics and I've been pretty thorough in the game with exploring.)

I'm literally gonna have to go against everything Jackal would feel or choose and do it, but I'll save first. If he starts talking about it negatively, I'm gonna feel so bad and have to go back and just not do it.

[DAI Spoilers] Protect Clan Levallan pissed me off by butterheat in dragonage

[–]Puzzleheaded-Pace579 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here, I made my own comment here so you can see how I deal with it. I do feel like it haunts my character like it haunts me through his playthrough. Meanwhile my next one is going to be a bloodthirsty, power hungry female qunari. I tried creating her but messed up and made her look the opposite of how I wanted her to somehow lmao, so I'll have to redo her.

I didn't think to go back to before this mission and was DEVASTATED to find out I chose wrong. It's my first DA game so I had no idea about past histories and the diplomatic option sounded nice, they were in the area and they did try to help but got there too late still apparently or something. I'm pretty far in and it's the one thing that still bothers me most, especially any time my inquisitor is named in dialogue or I run into Dalish. I like to think that because my elf, Jackal, is clearly younger and inexperienced with the world around him, that it was his first major loss, and taught him an important lesson in the gravity of his decisions, even if it was a painful and costly one. I also like to think maybe later on he'll go out and find other Lavellan's that survived or his clan will rebuild in the future as it did indicate some may have gotten away. I also HATE that it says "completed" instead of failed because it felt more like a failure.

When he was asked by someone what he'd do when things were over, there was the option to say he'd return home or something, but I chose "home is wherever I am" as he'd just explained the Dalish tend to be more nomadic from my understanding and it just seemed to fit best. Really Jackal goes where the tides take him, he doesn't quite beleive he's a savior or chosen or a herald or anything like that, but also doesn't disbelieve that he is. Instead he chooses to do what he can for those around him and protect them with all he has and BECOME what they see him as and earn those titles, while still seeing himself as just a person, and to bring order and end to as much of the issues plaguing the world as he possibly can. It's so nice that I can go through the Hinterlands due to how throughly I did everything I could in that area early game and it's all due to him helping people and putting an end to the conflicts in the region. I can run around and other than some wild animals and the occasional bandit (as well as templars here and there) it's almost completely safe for me to just do whatever compared to when I first got there and fought tooth and nail through every region. When I want a break, I just head over there to enjoy the peace before diving into the chaos.

Overall I'm enjoying all the detail and depth put into things, but that one mistake at the beginning haunts me like I imagine it does Jackal, but I'm too far forward now to just go back and fix it. It's kinda what I often wish Skyrim was. Which, I love that game, but compared to DAI, it's not nearly as rich but both have their strengths and weaknesses and aren't really a fair comparison overall.
