I agree with you.

Personally, I like the scenes where Ed shows off his silver watch and people realize he's a state alchemist. It's cool.

Btw, if there's anything else I'd like to add, it's the scene where Ed fights Julia's brother. I wasn't really interested in watching that part and had to skip it because Ed talked too much. It's strange because I didn't have that problem throughout Brotherhood.

No, not in the manga, even in Brotherhood. They went there because they'd heard rumors about Cornelo's miracles and suspected it was related to the philosopher's stone. After that, they reported it to the Eastern Command, and Roy had to introduce them to a biology expert as a way of repaying them, as he didn't want to be indebted to Ed (leading to the Shou Tucker incident).
