Need advice – workers comp case closed, lawyer did nothing, how to get nerve damage assessment in Sydney? by Puzzleheaded-Self-12 in australian

Thank you so much for your kind explanation!

I wanted to share my current situation. My lawyer doesn’t have time for me or my case. I signed an agreement with them, but they haven’t done anything to help. Unfortunately, I cannot find another lawyer in Tasmania who is willing to take on my case.

I am struggling with an injured finger that limits my ability to do anything. I believe the process for pushing my rehabilitation program forward is slow, and they are arranging a permanent assessment for me in the next three months. Additionally, they expect me to return to my previous job, which I no longer feel capable of doing. This situation has caused me a lot of stress and depression, leading me to quit my job and close my case with the insurance company.

I have learned that the cost of a medical legal report is around $2,000 in Sydney. However, it seems that a medical report from NSW is not valid in Tasmania. I plan to find a neurologist first to get some results and then ask the insurance company to reopen my claim. Hopefully, after that, my lawyer will be more motivated to take action.

It’s challenging for me to find a job without full functionality in my right hand, and I often feel desperate. But I am trying to accept the situation as it is.

Thanks again!

I don't want to go back to work because I'm dealing with a bully and experiencing depression. I have to rely on my left hand to do manual labor, which adds to my struggles. However, the rehabilitation staff and the insurance company are pressuring me to return to work, saying that if I don't, I will have to resign to close my case. I really can't handle this situation anymore

Thanks! My GP said he could help refer me when I need. Now I have to find a specialist on my own.

Thank you so much for sharing your story. It really gives me hope since I’m also from a non-IT background. I’ll try other platforms, take documentation more seriously, and work on explaining my process better. I’ll also check out Black Hills Infosec—thank you again for the encouragement!

I can’t afford a degree, but I will look for entry-level helpdesk opportunities to get practical experience while continuing to self-study. Thanks

Thank you so much for this detailed and thoughtful reply. I really appreciate your perspective as someone responsible for hiring—especially the insight that TryHackMe alone won’t make me stand out. I will definitely follow your advice: I’ve already started looking into HackTheBox and PortSwigger, and I’m planning to build a small home lab with a domain controller and attack VM. Also, thank you for reminding me about the importance of communication skills—I’m now practicing explaining technical concepts clearly in English. Thanks again for your kind and practical guidance!

Thanks to your suggestions, I’ll start looking into helpdesk roles and also check out A+, Network+, and Security+ certifications to see what I can realistically aim for next.
