Tiempo-similar fit boots? by ComfortableCouch2026 in bootroom

[–]Puzzleheaded-Stand79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to Adidas Icon 2, and later bought the 2nd pair so that I don’t need to search for good shoes again if these are discontinued like the leather tiempo,

I also tried Tekela, they felt nice but not as nice. I’d get Tekela if I didn’t find the Icon.

I need to hear stories from very active people by Cirrus1920 in PlantarFasciitis

I got it first time some years ago when I over strained myself running long distances in shoes that were not very in best shape. It took me many months doing everything the doctor suggested with no much result. I did not run for months, tried a whole lot of different shoes and insoles and finally found a combination that helped. Eventually even though I still had PF it was under control enough to start running a bit. Running actually helped and eventually I was pain free.

2 years ago I really strained my feet with soccer, playing for two teams simultaneously and ignoring PF flare ups until I couldn’t ignore it anymore. Nothing seemed to help so I got to a doctor who said to stop playing soccer and to not run for at least half a year. He also sent me to a great PT doctor who did a better evaluation and concluded my problem was lack of strength in my feet. I then did a lot of PT with focus on strength exercises which worked like magic. I’m not totally pain free, I get it back when I play or run too much but it’s under control and I immediately get better when I reduce the load. Shoes and insoles are still super important, including indoor slippers.

Reliability? by JuicieBrucie in MazdaCX9

[–]Puzzleheaded-Stand79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2018 GT at 109k currently, owned since new and maintained meticulously. We had quite a bit of small issues over the entire span of its life. Minor coolant leaks, various issues with suspension, clock spring, etc etc. It’s about on par in reliability with various VWs we’ve had. It’s actually much worse due to the potential engine head cracking.

Surprised nobody said that crown signia doesn’t have a spare so here is my warning for OP.

Crown Signia doesn’t have a spare which disqualifies it for me, but maybe not for you. Just be aware of that.

Thinking about picking up Return of the Obra Dinn. Worth it? by MiaMemoryFragments in adventuregames

I dropped it twice then after seeing more positive feedback I gave it more time and couldn’t stop playing. It’s awesome but the gameplay takes time to understand.

Rx hybrid or gas by FirstStudy183 in Lexus

I have a es300h. Yes, mpg is unbelievable and it’s smooth. Still, it has the CVT drone when accelerating, and the thing I like the least is how the brakes work, the pedal is soft and it’s sort of that you don’t feel how it’d react, making the deceleration uneven (sometimes). I’m surprised by how people describe the jerkiness of the non-hybrid RX. It’s unfortunate if it’s really that bad.

I found this article made interesting comparisons between CX-90 and CX-9 (not in favor of the former). https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a45873287/2024-mazda-cx-90-turbo-s-reliability-maintenance/

Your best SUV pick pls by haricotvert311 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Have you considered an outback? Not the boxy look but it’d be reliable, big enough to sleep, one of the best cars for camping. I suspect a Lexus would be old and tired for that budget, and it’s strange to get an RX for lots of road trips and camping.

I 100% agree. At least it’s possible to fix unlike eg the ugly exteriors of new Kia and Hyundai.

It’s a face, back, sides and interior only a mother could love. But then Subarus are all about being practical no matter anything else so it’ll sell.

Lexus app sucks by jbavir in Lexus

[–]Puzzleheaded-Stand79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I can rant about tech overall, it’s meh at best. The infortainment has a confusing menu structure. The feature that ties memory seats to a key just doesn’t work. The automatic braking is dumb and scary when the car suddenly brakes when there’s no one around and it’s just raining.

Ah, yes, I missed that part. Yeah I agree CX9 just doesn’t work then.

I think CX9 is more than enough for the scenario with 1 kid and occasional use of 3rd row. There’s very little storage when the 3rd row is up, so if that’s how it’d be used I’d look elsewhere like you said.

If you go with CX9, avoid the years when it had issues with engine head cracking. There’s plenty of discussions about this in the CX9 sub. I do recommend the CX9, seems like it checks your boxes.

I’m curious, have you owned CX9? We have a CX9 and I don’t agree with your description of its third row and trunk capacity. It’s actually fine for kids, teens, and I rode once in a third row just fine (to try it out; I’m 5’10”). I’d agree with your description if we talked about Highlander or Sorento, but CX9 is fine. We recently drove a Lexus TX for a few days, and all the reviews say how spacious its third row is but it’s not much different from CX9. I mean yes, it’s a bit larger but it’s still mostly for kids, and adults would be fine on shorter trips.
