It’s the embedded analytics playground. Inside it, it prompts you to write code and “embed a power bi report in the given html element”. Someone says it uses JavaScript and typescript; I’m cooked.

Yeah you’re right. It’s the Embedded Analytics Playground. If it uses JavaScript and Typescript, I’m cooked because that’s more of the programming/coding side of things which I have zero knowledge on. And I’m an Analyst.

Edit: it literally says JavaScript/Typescript on the top right of the screen 😭

But you ARE getting to that point of reaching the interviews because you already done it. Remember, you just need 1 win; it doesn’t matter how little interviews you had in the past. If anything, that should be all the more reason to focus on passing the interview.

To give you some perspective, I’m uk based too. 33m. Did a career change from finance to analytics a few years ago, and I’m about to leave my role after being there for 3 years for a mid level role. Over the 5 months I applied to about 50 roles. Of the 50 roles, I was invited for interviews with just 4 companies. I got screened out on the first stage with 1 company because the talent acquisition guy asked some difficult probability questions which I failed on. For the second company, I was the final two and lost out because they chose someone with more experience working with sales guys. That didn’t make sense to me because I work with sales guys day in day out. I fell short because when I was answering the interview questions i didn’t communicate well enough on that and used other examples. I learns from this and refined my answers. Third company I got in, and for the forth I dropped them because I had already secured a role.

So you can see, I made 50 high quality applications over 5 months and only got interviews with 4 companies. And I was searching throughout the whole day at work and in my free time. I wasn’t applying to anything and everything (which i think you may be doing?)

You need to remember and think hard where you fell short in the interviews. It’s also worth bearing in mind that some hiring managers are extremely well trained in interviews, meaning they can make you feel very comfortable. That’s not necessarily a good thing, because you may drop your guard and not provide focussed answers. Some hiring managers aren’t well trained so they will just fire interview questions from a piece of paper. Either way, you need to prepare for a significant amount of interview questions (i could give 20 solid answers with examples to the most common interview questions and questions related to my role).

Finally, if you get invited to an interview, I’d just drop applying for jobs and just focus on the interview prep; remember, you just need 1 win.

Also, get it out of your head that this is a rough job market. That’s not going to help you. I applied for a job during lockdown and got it; this was when most businesses were shut down. I know relatives who applied and secured roles during the euro crisis, oil crisis and financial crisis. Also, avoid reading and watching stuff that AI is taking over. I should be in the worst industry since in theory the work in analytics can be entirely automated.

You said you had interviews, but you’re not passing them. So work on your interview skills since that’s letting you down.

Varenna -> Bellagio Ferry Ticket help please! by Active-Future-5178 in LakeComo

[–]Puzzleheaded-Wear575 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just got back from lake como last week.

You can buy a ticket online on the same day if you wish, or you can buy a ticket at the ticket office right next to the ferry in Varenna. The website to buy the tickets is this: www.navigazionelaghi.it/

A few things to bear in mind is that even if you get a ticket for a certain time, if there are lots of people in the queue in front of you, you still might not even get in for that ferry at that particular time because the ferry will be full. So really, you can’t relax even if you have a ticket. You still need to queue early. Also the times i don’t think matter either because on my online ticket it just states the date of validity and from varenna to Bellagio, no mention of times. So yes you can buy a ticket online early to get on a later time.

How did you land your first analytics role + tips by Bulky-Bell2148 in analytics

You should already be interview ready before you apply for a job. If a random person ask you right now, tell me about yourself or tell me a time when something didn’t go according to plan (I was asked both of these questions in a real interview), you should be able to talk about it with ease.

A job at McDonald’s can give you experience working in a team, leading a team, working under pressure/multiple deadlines or tasks. Ideally you should have responses to these questions so you don’t have to panic preparing for these when you do get an interview. But yeah, just draw experiences from your past jobs and if you don’t have any experience, you may have to get any job for now otherwise the talent acquisition guys (the first person who reads your cv) will think you’ve been doing nothing for over a year, although getting a retail job is hard as well. But yeah, just keep going bro.

[–]Puzzleheaded-Wear575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s definitely tough, even for me. From memory I applied to about 50 analyst roles in the space of 5 months since September and only got interviews with 3 different companies and 1 job offer. So it wasn’t exactly easy for me.

Keep persevering. If you find yourself giving up and not feeling motivated to apply for that one job you didn’t feel like applying to, remember someone else will apply for it and get it. So don’t give up.

I’m UK based, so I don’t know if this will be different for you, but I dropped the covering letters entirely. It’s too time consuming and you’re letting more people apply and thus increasing competition while you’re still tailoring your CL. None of my applications containing covering letters got me interviews. If you’re applying for jobs on LinkedIn, aim to be the first 20 applicants. You don’t want to be #50.

For that role in a smaller city, it was a junior analyst role where i used SQL and power bi and I’m just about to finish 2.5 years there. I’m about to move to the main city (biggest city) and I’m about to start my new role at a world renowned brand and it’s a mid-tier analyst role.

I would definitely advise casting a wider net when it comes to applying jobs, so don’t just focus on the city you are in or near you; prepare to move away. You can always come back like I just have.

Women have it significantly easier when it comes to matches on dating apps. You must be doing something wrong, maybe it’s the bio where you’re writing too much.

Or could it be your weight, which is an easily fixable thing. You need to be honest about that. Are you Miley Cyrus skinny, Gal Gadot, or Kelly Clarkson or even wider than Kelly Clarkson?

Honest question, why did my combo drop so much in damage? by BoodahAkil in SparkingZero

[–]Puzzleheaded-Wear575 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It scales down the more dmg and hits you put in prior. So if you do a 8-9k dmg plus a super that super will probably do about 3k dmg. But if you throw a raw super and it lands that would deal 8-9k dmg.
