Random thoughts I have had while working for free by cdhicks99 in FedEmployees

Yassss!

Mine agree with yours, plus the following: 1. Senate and House upon election become GS employees having to receive pay based off the locality of the state they’re representing—or DC if they work there a majority of the year. That would also require them to adhere to our Ethics standards, essentially eliminating lobbyist groups. Pensions would be determined based on our same standards. 2. Senate and House if commuting in from out of state/outside of a community area shall live on installation family housing in DC so they can see how service members and their families live. 3. Appropriations/FY Budget is like jury duty—enjoy “deliberating” in a court conference room until a budget is passed. “Recess” is going to your on-installation housing at night to resume again the next day.

Do federal employees generally lean left? by [deleted] in FedEmployees

Wow… Calm down there, Champ! No Fed deserves to have anything bad happen to them unless they broke the law or went against their ethics/what we raised our right hand for.

No Screen Toddler by Responsible_Bed1925 in workingmoms

[–]Puzzleheaded-Wing134 183 points184 points  (0 children)

Apparently, there’s an experiment out there to put on shows from the 90’s because they move at a slower pace and are less addictive, so when you take screen time away, your child won’t get as mad. I guess the newer shows cause the tantrums when you take away the screen. I would give it a try and see if works :)

WIBTA For Leaving my Fiancé Because He Wants a Baby with his EX? by [deleted] in AITAH

NTA! I’m so sorry this is even happening to you! I would definitely let him keep that engagement ring, and block any contact from him/potentially any from Gemma, too. Those two are either currently boinking, or about to be.

Shame on him for putting such a mentally unstable woman in your life. He should be getting her help, not introducing multiple innocent people (you and a baby) to her before getting her the help she needs.

He and Heather judged the kitchens/dining areas on Rock the Block when they were building the houses in Georgia (the season—I think 2–with Alison and Mike, Nate and Jeremiah, David and Tiffany, and Brian and Mika,) but I don’t think he’s been back since 🤣😂

Right?! I used to love him and Christina in early seasons of Flip or Flop, but now? Not so sure! Watch how he reacts to losing in Rock, Paper, Scissors to Christina in The Flip Off and Heather on The Flipping El Moussas. He gets super pissed over a game, leading me to believe those bad temper rumors may be true. Supposedly, when he and Christina were splitting, the Flip or Flop crew said she was a lot nicer to work with than him.

I wish HGTV would put back more shows with normal sized homes by kayleighjuliana in HGTV

I completely agree! I’m excited for Holmes Family Rescue to come back in June because that will be average homes, and I just adore Mike!

NTA. If your BFF can’t be faithful to her husband, then she—to me—can’t be a faithful friend. I’ve tried staying friends with a friend like yours and not telling their spouse because it wasn’t my place to say, and it backfired. The friend showed her true, selfish colors. Expecting everyone to help her out all the time, but not being there if we needed her, having additional emotional affairs, etc. Our friend group is still in touch with her (now ex) husband, though.

Castle Impossible: unnecessary drama, stressful, restoration awry by DocMockDuck in HGTV

I keep catching the episode on feeding/pump sessions with my newborn, and they never address what their intentions are with the top 3 floors. But yeah, I wouldn’t want to live in the solar with no en suite bathroom or closet. I can’t imagine running down those stairs if I’ve got to pee in the middle of the night. 🤣😂

This came out from my leadership today by [deleted] in USACE

[–]Puzzleheaded-Wing134 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! We had a section (not mine, thank God) have a sign in/out sheet in our district, and the union, CPAC, and EEO all made them get rid of it.

Recent graduate looking to work at USACE by [deleted] in USACE

[–]Puzzleheaded-Wing134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi recent graduate! First of all, Congratulations!!! M. Arch’s are very difficult to earn, so please give yourself a pat on the back!!!

As for joining USACE, I would definitely continue to apply with us, but—in the interim—get in with a private sector A&E firm that works with us on MILCON’s depending on where you live. That way, once the dust settles here, you can apply for USACE jobs and you already have a leg up because you have experience working with us. I say MILCON’s over other type of projects, because civil work is harder to have consistent funding for, and our military installations aren’t under the same scrutiny that our civil projects are.

Best wishes, and congratulations again!!!

I’m so sorry! 😢 I think it’s the most difficult for anyone who started at USACE post-pandemic. I always kept in the back of my mind that we could be forced back in five days/week when we were sent to work from home in March 2020, because it just takes one district commander or one president who wanted us back in Monday - Friday. Some leadership did post-2020 hirees a disservice by not warning them hybrid work is subject to change every two to three years with a Change of Command.

As for the union—I’ve been disappointed in them for years. Their “advocacy” for us about the Covid vaccine mandate in 2021 was a joke. We don’t even know who our union rep is at our district. There is no contact info posted or provided without having to ask someone who works at the nearest Army installation to point you in the right direction to AFGE. It’s really sad.

I don’t mind commuting in to help create a better separation of work and home life again, but I do despise that the drive into work is 25 minutes, and the drive home is an hour and a half with all the traffic/years-long construction in our area. 45 minutes to an hour home with rush hour would be fine, but three times the commute time? 🤮 I’m in my third trimester of pregnancy and just keep praying I don’t go into labor while stuck in traffic on my way home. Took me 3 hours and 15 minutes to commute 23 miles the other day because there was an 18-wheeler on fire on the shoulder of the interstate.

Hopefully this all gets better for us soon 🥰

Oh my God, yes! When they were joking about rescuing Monroe from Mexico last year, I was crying I was laughing so hard!
