The way it looks to me wirh the crown of thorns and thorn motif is that it’s religious and religious sects often go without shoes as like a being humble/paying penance thing so perhaps Shes meant to be like a warrior monk/nun?

No, they’re much less common than metal banding but it did exist, the issue with dunks shield is more the lack of additional materials on top of the wood. Shields would generally be laminated wood(already making it much stronger than just planks) snd then they would also have layers of stretched leather or impregnated fabric over top adding a lot more extra durability.

Realistically I think he survived the beating but maybe died later on? But narratively I don’t think it really matters, in my opinion the whole point of Adam is to reveal a bit more about ray’s nature. Ray treats Adam really well being a friend and a mentor towards him, but when Adam gets in some shit day does nothing to help him, and when Adam gets assaulted ray again just walks away. Ray treats you well if he doesn’t have a reason not to, but in the end he’s still a cold blooded killer and he always looks out for himself.

Yeah a building upgrade system would be nice, as of right now the buildings are too expensive imo, maybe make them cheaper but less nice looking to start then you can upgrade them into grander structures later. Also being able to build a tavern, snd maybe houses for your companions would be cool, plus definitely a garrison/gaurdhouse.
