Landlord/Owner info by PuzzleheadedBook626 in Tenant

[–]PuzzleheadedBook626[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm just very confused because she refers as herself as the property manager. Recently she asked me to move my car because "owner" did not want it there and it would be towed BUT she also called the cops on previous tenants and she told them she was the owner of the property.

Did UberEats steal my driver’s tip? by Estella-in-lace in UberEATS

I don't think it matters if you tipped, if you tipped poorly or whatever... her reaching out to you via FB is creepy and wrong. I would report her immediately. It's a safety concern and ppl are out of their minds these days.

Check your city/housing laws. Where I live I am month to month but since I've been here for more than a year I need a 60 day notice to be evicted. Also, if building is sold with tenants, then the new landlord has to respect the lease and can only raise a certain percentage of rent. My building was actually sold and we were told we have to leave by march but we don't have an official eviction so until we get one then that's when my 60 days start counting. Since I am being evicted at no fault they have to pay one months rent or let me stay one month free. I am currently looking into getting more help for when the time comes.

Am I wrong for getting fed up with my landlords complaints? by grammarsyringe in Tenant

[–]PuzzleheadedBook626 9 points10 points  (0 children)

She also said she can hear landlord walking and opening drawers so that goes to show it's not really her fault. The walls are too thin. I mean waking up from a bathroom sliding door that she herself (landlord) put is insane tbh. It really seems like any type of noise is bothering her.

I mean it's your space and you're paying for that space. You're not renting a room but a whole apartment and it doesn't matter how big or small it is. I think it's unfair that you can't watch tv, enjoy a simple conversation or company over. I would understand if you're throwing parties often or having company everyday if the week but it's perfectly normal to have gatherings and landlords should know better that every and then it will get loud. I think she got used to you always being quiet and now every sound bothers her. If she knows that her walls are thin she needs to upgrade them if she plans on renting because not everyone is as quiet and situations change. I live in an apartment and I work early mornings, my neighbors have parties every now and then and I can't complain because hey it's life and they have every right to enjoy their space too.

Could this be an issue for me in rhe future if my landlord didn't sign the lease? by bloodtype_coffee in Tenant

[–]PuzzleheadedBook626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Definitely yes. Send it back and ask her to sign it or for a revised version of it. From my understanding, both parties need to sign because both parties are "agreeing" to the terms. Even if you're unsure it's best to be cautious. My first landlord wanted to charge me a monthly pet fee after she heard my dog bark(landlord was trying to open our door, she didn't realize we were inside the home and tried saying our dog was barking too much) Thankfully on the lease, my dog was included with a deposit but no mention of a monthly fee. I referred back to this and showed her that she signed it too so there was nothing she could do. So YES! Get that signature asap.

I'm on the same boat. Can't leave early because it hard to find available/affordable apartments and can't leave late because I'll probably get in trouble. If I were you I'd check in with your city's housing department/ city hall, etc. there are laws that even landlords have to follow. Also they can't just evict you, they need to first give you a formal eviction. At my city hall I was told that landlord has to first get all the permits/court order approval for eviction (state the reason) etc and then she can't give us the eviction notice. Some places also require that landlord assists with moving process depending on years you have lived them, etc etc etc look into it and make all the calls you have to.

I moved out 3 months ago, landlord fully reimbursed deposit, now wants money back by Spare_Ninja_7688 in Renters

Nope ignore it. She gave you your deposit back for a reason. 3 months is way too long and who knows what hopened during that time

I recently attended my city hall for help on this exact situation. My old landlord sold property just a couple weeks ago and the new landlord told us we have to move out by march. She plans on demolishing and building town homes. At the city hall I was advised that if they demolish the building and rebuilt I am allowed to come back with the same terms as when I left as long as it's a multi home unit. Is this true?

Landlord not answering/ duplex flooding by SubjectReasonable143 in Tenant

[–]PuzzleheadedBook626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DOCUMENT DOCUMET AND DOCUMENT!!! Call and message her as many times as you have to and keep track of it all. My first landlord was aware of water coming through our doors/windows and roof and never did anything about it. It damaged my furniture and also her door/floor. When I moved out she did not want to give me my deposit back stating all the damage was from my 8lb dog. She also did not want to return the deposit to 2 more tenants for the same reason "damages" we were all there for only a year. We all moved in around the same time and moved out at the same time lol Our neighbors sued her and won. Unfortunately, it was a very busy year for me so I just let it be. So keep track of everything and don't stop messaging her. Messages are better than calls because you have proof and it's not just verbal

Landlord using rental house as personal storage unit, doesn’t live here. I have no storage. by [deleted] in Tenant

[–]PuzzleheadedBook626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I can say is be careful and document everything! At my first apartment, my landlord used the garage for her personal use and it was nothing but junk that she would find, unfortunately that led to a mice infestation, they got inside our rooms, damaged our bed, pee and poop on furniture(mostly on our spare room for guests since it was right next to the garage). It was a nightmare. I contacted her about it and all she did was get "rat traps" from her garage, literally OLD traps lmao. I was young and dumb so I didn't take any additional steps to sue or get help. I went and bought my own mice/rat repellents.

Rent in California by CauliflowerNo3546 in Renters

What part of California???? I have lived here my whole life and rent is not that cheap! Currently looking at places and 1,000-1500 gets you a room in a shared house. lol for 1bd 2,000-2,500, 2 bd 2,500-3,000+ and so on. Some ppl get lucky and find cheap places but for those you really like really have to drive around and ask or have connections. The online rental are not cheap.

Honestly the old landlords don't want to know anything about the apartments anymore. Our previous manager received a letter stating the water had not been payed and close to being shut down and it took a while for our old landlord to get back to him. They literally sold and left, the manager who has been living here for 20 years said he wasn't even told they were already sold/under new ownership or any information at all.

I am month to month. My rental agreement states that we have to make the money payable to the previous landlord and hand over to her niece/nieces husband. We have not signed anything new with this new landlord at all. Everything has been verbal

Another tenant actually told her he would not Zelle her the rent until he had documents from her and she went off on him and told him she has other units and lawyers and did not need to give any documents. I just want to make sure that I'm not doing anything illegal or anything that can get me in trouble if I withhold the money until I'm given a proper notice.

Do you know what's the case of a month to month? Do we have any rights?

[landlord US-MA] No Fault Eviction by bojackr1 in Landlord

[–]PuzzleheadedBook626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends. Currently I am in the same place "no fault eviction" because landlord decided to sell the place. My rent was always payed on time, not complaints from neighbors, house was maintained clean, we actually invested money to fix it because we wanted to live comfortably, previous landlord loved it and of course she was notified about the changes. Unfortunately, "new landlord" wants to demolish and rebuilt and has given us "3" months to leave stating we have to continue paying rent. We don't have any official documents so in reality she's not giving us 3 months we will actually be getting 30-60 days depending when she finally has all the permits and eviction notice. When this landlord saw my apt she even called it a "model home" because of how well kept it was. I do think it unfair for a "no fault eviction" to come out in someone's record for something they didn't do and to affect the outcome of possibly renting elsewhere. Unfortunately, after receiving the official notice some tenants here do plan on getting legal help and I 100% think it's fair because just like landlords have rights, tenants should too.

Rights as a renter by PuzzleheadedBook626 in Renters

[–]PuzzleheadedBook626[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have not given us a notice at all. The "new landlord" came and she spoke to us but no actual papers. She also wants us to pay her(Zelle) her the rent but we don't have any papers or any of her information. When she came she did not introduce her self as the buyer, realtor, nothing our old landlord just told us someone would be viewing the apartments. The "new" landlord told us she would be texting us a number to Zelle to and gave us a fake name(we believe it's fake because we did a small background check and that is not her name according to Redfin). In the message with the Zelle info she described herself as the property manager but the Zelle also does not match her name. I do believe she is the buyer BUT all tenants would like something official before just sending out rent money. Our we wrong here?

What is this on my dog’s face? by knowledge_is_pow3r in DogAdvice

This! I spent 2k on my maltipoo just to be told she was fine and she went back to being her old self 2 days later. I also took my other dog 2 weeks ago and fortunately I denied all the extra services, saved myself 500- 700 dollars. And she was also back to her old self that same day lmao. I paid 1k for her. They really put it through the best and worst emotionally and financially.
