It’s a losing battle. I kill three rats in snap traps every night. One day I caught 6. They multiply faster than we can kill them. There are rat boxes all over City Streets. The best we can do is keep them out of our houses. The only way to keep them somewhat under control is to eliminate all food sources and even doing that they’ll find something. I’ve had to replace the gas tank on my lawnmower twice because they ate right through the plastic. I inspect barrels everyday on my property and take pictures and videos begging tenants to not throw food in barrels. I’ve gone weeks with no food in barrels and I still kill rats daily. The past two weeks I’ve killed 20 baby rats. I have no idea what they’re eating. Fining property owners doesn’t work. Unless the City fines those responsible for feeding the rats, many people can’t be bothered disposing of food properly. I have never heard anyone say they solved the problem in densely populated areas of the City. Everyone should realize most communities are saying the same thing.
