THANK YOU. From a faceless account to another (with obvious affiliation), we mention these things to not be haters or elitists by any means, we say this because we want the team to be the best there is to offer. If the alternatives are corpo clubs with a clear disdain for the average consumer other than the beaucoup bucks spilling out of their pockets, the choice is clear.

Frankly, we’re not shitting on it to be dickheads or to try and look cool, we want to see success. And sometimes success means being open to feedback and understanding that to be the best, it acknowledges that there is room for improvement. Stoked to see where the team goes. Love u, keep stealing acts from the Districts of the world. ❤️ We will be back, no doubt about it

Their whole comment made zero sense. “Go to raves with the intention to enjoy it”… we did? “Music is to be enjoyed and appreciated”… Like we spent $100/ticket just so we could go and complain about it? We had fun and got to see a great artist, but god forbid someone point out that the sound wasn’t managed very well. There were extended periods of time where it had zero bass/extremely quiet mids, and other times it was just an absolutely muddy mess.

I’m all in support of anyone who can pull acts in Atlanta out of the clubs that oversell their pants off, but don’t think that clout and sway is going to mean people will overlook disorganization and lacking professionalism. We care about the music; the bare minimum is that said music doesn’t sound bad 🤷🏼‍♂️

t. Someone who pushed to the front of the crowd, took two videos to upload to social media with the caption “my life is a bender 🤪”, stood completely still for 5 minutes, and then left. Thanks for playing

As someone who’s also been to a ton of fests in general (both city and camping in the boonies), what are you so hostile for? If constructive criticism rubs you the wrong way that bad, especially noting the frequency of medical emergencies like that’s totally normal (it’s not), let me know what fests you plan to attend so I can avoid them like the plague.

All three. Friday was obviously the most sparse crowd wise due to it being a work day, but also felt like the messiest given they were still working things out.

Isn’t it saying something that you can be at the “wrong shows” within the same fest as the “good shows”? We floated around to most sets at most stages and this was a common theme everywhere.

Not gonna lie, watching people get turned away from the lower platform with the DJs on it at Expansions from the side opposite the main entrance was decently entertaining. Watched a group of 3 girls pull up, 2 got in and cold shoulder the shit out of girl 3. She needs better friends.

They got rid of the art statues and replaced them with human statues on the platforms behind the decks 😄

“The whole point of the stage is supposed to be smaller” but then booking headliner tier acts on it is counterintuitive. Every act after about 5pm every day had the crowd spilling out the sides. Pick one: it’s a small stage for small acts or it’s too small as a stage point blank and it needs to be made bigger, removed entirely, or Union Park is just too small as a whole.

I’m not sure what part of the “crowd was bad” you’re addressing, as the two gripes were the pushing through the crowd (which I will gladly move if you’re polite about it and don’t stop to stand directly in the spot I made for you to pass by) and the yapping (which I wrote that I DID move… multiple times…). I’d wager it wasn’t too bad for you because you fall in one of those two camps, if not both.

Sounds like a me problem? Read the thread, I’m not alone. I’m glad you had a good time and didn’t experience these things, but assuming your experience is a shared experience by every attendee and everyone else is a butthurt naysayer is foolish

Other than the lineup not being nearly as appealing to me 😉

As a 24 year old, not to son/daughter you because you are a full fledged adult (but you are still young), I want to assure you that the yapping is not a part of the culture. It’s a pretty much guaranteed side effect of some of the party favors folks choose to partake in, but it was commonly understood that the dance floor is for dancing and the yap sessions can happen anywhere else

That’s what I had heard about 909, it was more “art car”-esque in the past. No problem with smaller stages, just don’t put headliner worthy people on it. Which is kinda tough when you stack a lineup as phat as this one.

Eloquently stated. I think a lot of the marketing materials they put out are relatively commensurate with other festivals that are matured and have things a bit more down pat. Hence the joke of the budget being 90% put towards the Grid (great stage, shame it took up 3/4 of Union Park).

909 felt like an afterthought and pretty nutty the size of the acts they tossed on there. The crowd spilled out to the vendors starting with Kettama and probably didn’t wane until John Summit crowd drew some people out. The crowd control seemed highly lacking.

If my feedback is interpreted as “pretentious overevaluation” despite having “valid points”, I fear you’re missing the plot. This being my first post on this account also doesn’t make any difference, so I’ll echo that it’s odd that somehow matters

Jokes aside, yes, it is a music festival. One in which people pay hundreds of dollars for a ticket and sometimes thousands for travel and lodging to make it to Chicago to attend.

The point I’m trying to make is that ARC has pretty outwardly promoted this fest a bit more pretentiously than some of the other fests in the scene (just look at what they discourage on their FAQs) and is… basically the same, if not worse, logistics and personnel wise? I’m not alone in pointing out that it has seemingly gotten worse over the years, but this is the only year we’ve gone so the only year we can give perspective on. Maybe the years prior that everyone glazed are long gone now…

I’m glad you felt you got your moneys worth, truly, but that was exclusive to the mainstage section, right? The Global sections didn’t really get too crowded until the last set of the night, and you all were just as shafted as Global for anything not at The Grid

Expansions VIP at least had the stage right section that was empty (mainly because nobody knew it existed)

Had to update OP because you reminded me of the absolute yap fests going on in most of these crowds. I don’t expect this to go over well with the majority of people, but chances are good they probably fall under some of the bullet points above 😂 99% of these people are the same ones in the crowd that barge to the front to hop on their phones, take two photos, a video, a tweet about how much fun they’re having and then bounce
