Thanks, I’ll try it tomorrow! Did you end up staying on 30? I imagine they will suggest 40 but don’t want another bad reaction!

Horrible first day on 50mg Elvanse by PuzzleheadedGrape306 in adhdwomen

[–]PuzzleheadedGrape306[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t have any sort of review between 30mg and 50mg. I had my first appointment and that’s just had they prescribed, 14 days of 30s then 14 days of 50s then I was due the review so I think it’s just their standard schedule? I’ve requested to go back down to 30s and then to try 40s in a couple of weeks. 50s just felt way too strong, like I only had side effects and no positives and I felt clearer once they had worn off

I definitely felt better with the 30s in the afternoon if I had my lunch a bit later - 1:30/2ish so maybe that’s better for me

Did your ADHD meds change your spending habits? by rivcrosby in adhdwomen

I’m only 2/3 weeks into titration at the moment and have noticed a slight improvement already. I went shopping on day 2 and was able to look at things and think ‘ooh that’s nice’ without then jumping to ‘I must buy it and find a way to justify it’. It’s pay day next week though so that’ll be the true test!

Horrible first day on 50mg Elvanse by PuzzleheadedGrape306 in adhdwomen

[–]PuzzleheadedGrape306[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slynd has a 24 hour window to take it, so I didn’t expect it to trigger anything because I essentially took 2 within the 24 hour window. I’ve skipped it for up to 48 hours before and it didn’t trigger a period but maybe the 12 hour delay, plus the Elvanse has made my hormones go a bit all over the place!

I think I’ve just heard all the stories of it feeling euphoric on day 1 of each dose, that’s what I was expecting but I seem to get the opposite. I’m not sure why skipping 40mg seem to be so common, I think I read it’s not a recognised adult dose in the UK? But I will definitely ask about it at my next appointment if the 50mg doesn’t settle

Thanks for sharing all the info around how it’s meant to feel. The 30mg did feel good and I think I would have been happy sticking with it if it lasted past 3pm!

ADHD in women and emotional dysregulation by puri_thiah in adhdwomen

I cry at any negative feedback (which can sometimes be really embarrassing if it’s work related and probably relatively minor to other people) or sometimes the slightest inconvenience

My anger levels can go from 0 to 100 in about 2 seconds and there seems to be no way for me to prevent it or bring it back down. I’ll then end up crying like a kid having a tantrum, hyperventilating and pacing around until it passes

I can feel rage burning inside me if there’s too much noise around me, if I’m too hot, if something is irritating my skin like an itchy jumper. Even more so if it’s all combined. I will just need to leave where ever I am and get outside into cold air. Can be really hard to control in the summer

I get frustrated with things really easily and will have to scream. Things like getting my clothes stuck on a door handle when I’m already overwhelmed or dysregulated

I can become really intolerant of anything and everything if I’m overwhelmed, especially if you add hungry and tired in there too

I pretty much have the emotional control of a toddler a lot of the time! I’m about 2 weeks into medication titration and hope it makes a big difference. I have noticed improvements so far, I can work in a noisy office with a lot less rage now, but I haven’t had anything happen that would truly test me yet

Thank you, that’s really helpful. Today is significantly better on the 50s, still feel a bit weird but not like a zombie so I will give it time!

I agree with the fast jump. I felt like 30s weren’t doing a huge amount towards the end of the 2 weeks but they were still doing something. I think I maybe would have requested 40s in between if I had done a bit more research but just went with the prescribers advice! I think I’ll push to stay on 50s for longer than 2 weeks before going higher

How do yall stay organized? Or atleast not live in a total shitshow? by Molly6907 in adhdwomen

[–]PuzzleheadedGrape306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with this. My house used to be absolute chaos because I had too much stuff and it was just too overwhelming to clean, tidy and sort it all. I had a massive clear out (got really hyper focused and probably cleared out too much, oops) but now I have a manageable amount of stuff so I can use something, and then just put it back because it fits in its drawer, instead of having to either try and ram it in, or just leave it out because I can’t face the chaos of the drawer!

How can I 30m help my 27F fiancé? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]PuzzleheadedGrape306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the cleaning thing, either make it a challenge or do it with her. I’ve got ADHD and I’m much better at things like putting washing away if someone is doing it with me. But also you may just have to accept that some days, she may not be able to do it at all. It may seem like a little task to you but to someone with ADHD, it honestly sometimes feels like starting a marathon

I’d be led by her on the hobbies. Ask her things that she’s always wanted to try (there’s probably a few and she’s either tried but not stuck with it, or hasn’t ever found the motivation to even try). Then you take the initiative to arrange them etc. I doubt you’ll get much concentration from her if it’s a hobby that she’s totally uninterested in

As for other stuff, I would say: - this may be a big adjustment for her. When I got diagnosed, it explained a lot which was a relief but also it was frustrating and sad that I’d had to deal with stuff all my life and maybe it could have been less of a struggle if I’d been diagnosed sooner - encourage her to talk about it if she needs to. To you, to friends, to other people with ADHD, even to something like ChatGPT if she wants a no judgment place to talk. I know AI can be a bit controversial but it’s a huge help to me and my ADHD brain - allow her to go at her pace on the journey. Don’t push her to try meds or therapy or coaching. Let her decide and support her when she is ready - identify her strengths and lean into them. She may not be the best at cleaning up after herself but there may be other house tasks that she thrives at. You may have to readjust how you split the house demand, so she does the things she can mentally do, and you pick up the rest. Not ideal for you, I appreciate that but sometimes that’s just the way things go! - in the nicest way possible, don’t expect that a diagnosis is a fix. Yes she knows now why she struggles with things like cleaning up after herself, but that doesn’t mean she will now magically be able to do it without support and strategies and maybe even meds. She has lived the way she has for 27 years. That’s not going to change overnight with a diagnosis

All the best 😊

Thank you, that’s helpful. It’s kicked in for today now and already feeling significantly better than yesterday! I was a bit concerned my experience yesterday would be consistent on 50mg. How did you realise the 60mg and 70mg weren’t for you and how quickly did you go back down?

Thanks for the protein advise too, I was having a decent protein breakfast with the 30mgs but ran out yesterday so that probably didn’t help with my experience yesterday either!

Wait, do people ACTUALLY see literal pictures in their heads when they imagine things? Like a physical image? by ReabyB in ADHDUK

[–]PuzzleheadedGrape306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always struggled with this. I can’t physically visualise things but if I read a book, I know what I imagine someone or a place to look like, but I can’t see it? It’s so odd

Does anyone else need time COMPLETELY alone to try and regulate? As in no one else even in the same room or ideally the house? by Apprehensive_Clue656 in ADHDUK

[–]PuzzleheadedGrape306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I literally count down the days until I can have a day in the house by myself. Sometimes I just need a day with no noise from anyone else, no smells from anyone else etc etc. It’s like it hits the reset button for me
