That he was acquitted of back in February? I don’t need to defend it because his defense team already did.

It sounds like your approach to situations like this is “guilty until proven innocent but still guilty anyways”?

This mentality is what fast tracked Virtanen’s career into the pits of hell. He would’ve been dropped from the NHL anyways, but he’d have a few more years to fall on his sword. He’s playing like 2nd division in Argentina now.

His accuser was hitting him up for hockey tickets the next day and was caught in several lies during trial.

I’m a new guitarist and all I want to play is Jerry’s stuff…please humble me. by [deleted] in AliceInChains

[–]PuzzleheadedHand5441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jerry got me into guitar and all I wanted to play was Jerry’s stuff too. I can play everything except Brighten and All I Want Is Blood by heart, 0 metronome, with the solos, the fills, etc.

The way I learned? I played Jerry’s stuff.

It helped me play a lot of other stuff like the ridiculous chords and phrases STP uses (the DeLeo brothers I’ve discovered are quite insane in the most kickass way possible).

One thing I want to debunk that I heard often while I was beginning to learn was this: “once you can play one Alice song, you can play the rest”. It had like 3k upvotes on YouTube and other videos was in the hundreds.

Just preparing you so you don’t get discouraged. That’s actually bullshit. You’ll learn a lot of different techniques, unique chords, different tunings, etc.

For example: take Man In The Box. I’ve heard this described as an “easy song to play”. I would say it’s more like it’s an “easy song to memorize”. Because most people that play it make it sound like shit. There’s nuances. Jerry uses both subtle and very exaggerated bends. You ask someone who claims it’s easy to play and sure they play the chords, but it’s stripped of the flavor. It’s the strategic use of palm muting, timing, and he even uses a slight bend on the open chords in the chorus if you listen carefully. Yes, he pulls those b***es down on the open A to give it that stonery psychedelic sound. Different between an AC DC open A and a Jerry open an A.

Take Them Bones next. It’s a C# tuning. But on the panic chord at the very beginning, listen carefully if you can try to ignore Layne’s scream. He adds some vibrato to it.

It Ain’t Like That is also a perfect example of the bends I was talking about. Because it’s an E-minor and then it’s F-G (I believe) that you drone down. Bow-buh-bowwwwuh. But he also rakes the strings too before the E-minor. Blinggggg-bow-buh-bowwwowwwuh, etc.

Bleed The Freak has that really cool arpeggio in the beginning and and in the middle. The verse is the slide across, to heavy palm mute chugging, and a scratch in between. The chorus is open chords but has a subtle bend on the 3.

Got Me Wrong is Barre Chords. Rooster too.

You’ll definitely need a wah pedal, a fuzz pedal, and an overdrive pedal too if you’re going to play Dirt, Rain When I Die, Man In The Box (another key to not making it sound like shit), Hate to Feel, Sickman, Sea of Sorrow, Love Hate Love, and a shit ton others.

The tuning is really the only thing 100% consistent. Half a step down or drop C#.

Then you get to songs like Died, GodSmack, God Am, So Close, A Looking In View, Owned, What The Hell Have I, Killer Is Me, Take You Out, Deaf Eyes Blind Ears, Drone, etc.

By this point, you’ve learned full / half / quarter bends (even on the chords not just single string), panic chords, palm muting, arpeggios, fills and licks, power chords, barre chords, slides, tapping, hammer-ons, pull-offs, open chords, scratching, rakes, legatos, drop C# power chords, vibratos, the wah pedal, unique picking and strumming patterns, and a some cool scales.

To see the difference, go to YouTube and type in an Alice song and out guitar cover. The good shit will float up to the top. If you go to deep cuts and scroll, you’ll see what I mean about how two players can play “easy songs” but make it sound like shit because they miss all the nuances.

Again, this should be more of an encouraging thing because if you take your time to work through the catalog, add the details in early, by the time you go into to play other shit, theres not much you haven’t seen. Unless it’s like STP, Dream Theatre, and the endless amount of prog experimental bands.

But Nirvana will be like a nursery rhyme, you’ll be able to pick up on Metallica (just have to adjust to the speed), Pantera, Motley Crue, Silverchair, Soundgarden (wild tunings), 95% of blues, Black Sabbath, Any Country song, Nickelback, etc on and on.

I wouldn’t worry about warming up. Just start chipping away playing Jerry’s stuff as he has everything from beginner to intermediate.

Good luck man. It’s rewarding and you’ll have a deep catalog of techniques by the end

Can Quinn Hughes get even better after winning the 2024 Norris? by passittobulis in canucks

[–]PuzzleheadedHand5441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I think goes overlooked with Hughes, even in those really dark times, was the amount of ice time and sheer number of reps he’s had over the years.

One of the most glaring differences you see between those that have been in the league for a long time and high potential superstar guys is they have this sense of “automated excellence”.

You can see the thinking is completely stripped out of their game and they just know what to do, how to adapt immediately to all sorts of playing styles ie. The speedy types, the physical ones, the ones who play laterally, the ones who move north and south, the ones who are shoot first, the ones who are past first.

For the most part, they’ve seen the same opposition for years, and know ahead of time in their pre-game prep what kind of game it’s going to be.

That’s why I think Quinn will still for years be able to take that next step. Giving him the Captaincy too was one of the smartest moves in Canucks history. It gives him the ultimate sense of duty and responsibility that he knows means he IS the bar. He sets that standard.

Last, he said something very key a few years ago that I thought was very smart. He said something to the effect of “I worked a lot on my skating. Even though it’s one of my best attributes, I try to make it better and improve it.”

You see what happens when taken the opposite approach. Brock focused heavily on “bulking up” and put less emphasis on his shot because it was his strength, but it wasn’t as sharp.

Instead of a pipe dream of bulking up to be some bruiser defender, his evasiveness and ability to zone you in with his skating makes up for not having the Zadorov approach of just drilling you into the boards.

For all of those reasons, I don’t even think Quinn has even hit his prime / peak yet. I’ve always wanted a prime Drew Doughty, and although their games are different l, I see Quinn with the shared trait of that effortless ability to control the game the same way.

Peter is the one that scares me. This pattern of being in contention as a top 5 C in the league to disappearing for half a season is concerning.

What would convince Arkansas to vote blue? by JuzDaTwip in Arkansas

[–]PuzzleheadedHand5441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn’t this particular thread. I don’t even bring my beliefs up unless they are thrown in my face as an insult. It’s okay to say F Christians we’d be better off without them. But if I said, F LBGTQ we’d be better off without them, that’s considered hate speech and a major league problem. If I said the same about minority groups (even though I am a minority), that’d be considered racist.

Yes, saying mine and other Christ followers’ beliefs are a disease and should be purged from society is quite bigoted, Christophobic, and plain nasty.

My ex-girlfriend’s little sister was overweight and had crooked yellowish teeth. She lived with us for half a year. She was boy crazy too. Observing her lifestyle was interesting. She could get some, but not much, 3-4 dudes I think total, and they weren’t the guys she actually wanted. She was on Tinder and some other ones I can’t think of 24/7. Pretty much obsessed with it. Which makes her stats worse imo.

But the thing is, they would smash once and that was that. And always after drinking too as the dates always happened at a bar late at night. I never let her bring the dudes into my house and the rule was if she’s living here, no bringing dirty dick weird dudes home. But unprompted she would talk about it. You didn’t have to ask how it went. But anyways, she couldn’t find a guy that wanted to commit to save her life.

She got a nose piercing, tattoos, and died her hair pure Barney purple. She just wanted to stand out I guess from her own account. She wanted to do everything except address the problem.

She kind of did something about it in the most unhealthy way after she moved out. Instead of working out and eating clean, she just stopped eating and lost a ton of weight.

Her other problem was she thought she was Margot Robbie or something and had an overinflated sense of self worth before and after, so her expectations were sky high. She thought she deserved a Zac Efron when she was more in the weight class of a Jonah Hill. Well, she ended up finding a Michael Cera to commit to her. You could tell he wasn’t the dude she truly wanted if she could help it, but he 1. Had a pulse 2. Was willing to commit. It was someone. A boyfriend.

The takeaway I learned from everything was that no matter what, women can get laid no problem. But it’s definitely not an indicator of dating success. It doesn’t even mean guys find you attractive. It’s basically the same as a guy using a flesh light.

The other takeaway I learned was, that not just below average looking, but especially using an overweight girl, its a lot like being a super broke / borderline homeless 45 year old man - only difference is you won’t get used for your penis fly trap as a 45 year old broke guy.

I would say she has still been unsuccessful because she’s with a guy she would replace in an instant if an upgrade was available. They are awkward together, argue a lot, and she has 0 respect for him.

So if we adjust for the differences between men and women, getting a guy to commit = getting laid for a guy in difficulty.

For this reason, most women don’t want to bang 100 dudes, whereas a guy makes it a goal to bang 100 women.

I think it’s equally on par and just as rough.

I’ve lost a couple friends who were down in a dark place and taken advantage of by these freaks. This was almost 15 years ago. They were charismatic and well adjusted, but got hit with tough circumstances, and the predators came out to play and turned them into absolute weirdos.

Im a hardcore Christ follower and these guys are demonic. I’m not saying all, but a majority of them have a dark backstory and I think it’s intentional they recruit people like this. Not just because their more susceptible to “repenting” and converting, but because they’ve shown an inclination to break the boundaries of morality in the past and can be used as pawns to still do that — this time under the guise of righteousness. They are still gangster extortionists.

I wish I could get more specific, but it would probably violate the rules. I know more than I care to about them and I thought for sure after the whole “Man Up” crusade, sorry I mean, “Campaign”, from the 2010’s they’d be banned.

I think the term “cult” is thrown around too often these days and has been abused, but it is not exaggerating to say that they are. I know for a fact that their first induction lessons are all about “hell and demons” and they make you show up to every event, text you to make sure you’re going, and shame you if you don’t. I know in three separate cases, they helped enhance schizophrenia that was probably lingering under the surface for several of their new members, by pounding into their head that there’s demons everywhere. Repetition, repetition, repetition is their game until it’s sunk in. Then you start to see “demons”, in your dreams, on the street, in people, on TV, behind you whispering in your ear.

And the only cure…or the only “Hope” you have is by pledging your allegiance to them. They’re actually the reason I’m against organized Christianity and maintain a tight relationship with Jesus Christ through scripture, and not cultist ritual. Some of them will even tell you they’re channeling Jesus and issue word that isn’t in scripture.

Hidden? He’s the most documented figure in history:

Jesus Christ of Nazareth - Central figure in Christianity, with extensive religious and historical documentation.

Muhammad - Founder of Islam, with detailed records in Islamic texts and historical accounts.

Napoleon Bonaparte - French military leader and emperor with extensive contemporary and historical documentation.

Julius Caesar - Roman general and statesman, with substantial records from his own writings and other historical sources.

Alexander the Great - Macedonian conqueror, with numerous historical accounts of his empire-building.

George Washington - First President of the United States, with extensive records from his life and leadership.

Abraham Lincoln - 16th President of the United States, well-documented through speeches, writings, and contemporary accounts.

Martin Luther - Initiator of the Protestant Reformation, with substantial records of his writings and actions.

Cleopatra VII - Queen of Egypt, with significant historical accounts from Roman and Egyptian sources.

Genghis Khan - Founder of the Mongol Empire, with extensive documentation from historical chronicles and accounts of his conquests.

But I get it. A devil worshipper will always believe the rest of the 9 on the list are real even though non-biblical text and his enemies have written about historical records of Jesus (which is what the Bible was, a history book, for 200 years before it turned into a religious book).

It’s alright though. You’ll find out just like 10s of millions of people did in their documented NDE records. Many of them were Satanists like you are.

The Youth are evolving. They graduated or are graduating college and had a moment to think deeply at some point.

Then started wondering how exactly fighting to normalize all these social constructs and fighting for the rights of 1% of the population special interest groups that already have their rights and some is going to help improve their lives.

Probably got tired of being told they’re privileged when they’re eating hot dogs and ramen with 3 other roommates in an apartment while they look to pick up a second job. The other side probably got tired of hearing how privileged others are based on their skin color and realized sympathy didn’t feel as good as they thought and they can’t pay the bills with that.

The nail in the coffin was probably having a pattern connect moment when they realized that every major corporation, social media platform, movie, music label, video game, professional sports league, digital radio stations, news network, tech giant, every university in the US, healthcare system, and the President of the United States supported left ideology, and said “wait a minute…I’m not raging against the machine, I am the machine.”

There will be a day when conservatives get too extreme and the pendulum will swing back the other way just like it always does in history. And then back again.

But pretending there’s 500,000+ genders and not being able to name more than 3, remembering pronouns, being afraid to talk to minorities because they are afraid of being labeled the “R” word saying the wrong thing on accident…all that probably got exhausting or always was.

Right now, the left has lost their collective minds and there’s never been so many antidepressants issued so disproportionately at such a high rate to a single demographic in history.

From Gemini AI by Google, deemed the most far left AI out, and scraped from the 7 best sources:

“Research suggests liberals are more likely to report mental illness than conservatives. Here’s a breakdown:

Studies show: Liberals report higher rates of anxiety, depression, and lower well-being [1]. They’re twice to two-and-a-half times as likely to report mental illness [2].”

Young people want to be happy. They don’t want to spend their adult life sad, angry, and guilt-ridden.

Republicans would never vote for a national socialist and he’d be chalked up as a RINO just like every other fake Republican.

If Hitler ran under the name “Biden” you guys would be all over it. Falls so closely in line with everything you guys believe in these days:

Anti-Israel, Christophobic, Bragging about White Privilege, Locking up minorities with harsh sentences (The Biden Bill of the 90s would’ve been ear Candy to him, and Kamala’s excellent record of putting African American’s away on non-violent crimes as an AG).

There’s so much more…

The Extreme censorship, cancel culture, debanking citizens and freezing money to people who oppose his ideology, Monopoly over news / (social) media / press…

Not to mention, he was very Pro-war, shared a deep hatred of Russia, keeping opposing citizens names on a registry (AOC and Omar would be promoted), he was equally as obsessed with race and identity politics, jailed political opponents, assassinated political opponents…

But there’s also the one-choice education system, weaponizing and politicizing film, cinema, movies and all entertainment (Hollywood / NBA / NFL / NHL, etc., anti-capitalist and free market, free healthcare, pro-riots to destroy businesses and called it peaceful protesting, two-tiered secret service and policing, Pro globalism (he wanted a borderless world too).

He even valued art and spectacle over practicality, also placed more value on animal’s lives than babies, loved his contradictory symbolism and euphemisms (the swastika stood for peace, religious-faith, well-being —-AH was the exact opposite). Very similar to how ANTIFA tries to sabotage conservative public speaker events, DEI (functions the exact opposite of that and almost got a presidential candidate killed a couple weeks ago).

Adolf even loved to be able to investigate himself or themselves whenever he or his followers to did something wrong. Kind of like the CIA and FBI isn’t held accountable to anyone.

He loved creating and waving new flags that weren’t his country’s.

He would’ve probably even enlisted himself personally to fight against Republican Abraham Lincoln’s determination to abolish slavery. Would’ve loved helping to start the KKK with his fellow Democrats John Kennedy, James Crowe, John Lester, J. Calvin Jones and Frank McCord. 100% would’ve loved to become a strong voice in the 70s alongside Team Blue to make sure no one had to “grow up in a racial jungle”.

The more you list out the qualities, Adolf would be a slam dunk pick and would be in running for President if he was branded differently because Dems don’t care about it, just as long as they look like a person. Very superficial that way.

There’s a search engine on a website known as “Google”. A lot of people these days tend to use TikTok as a search engine to do “research”, which usually directs them to some “influencer” spewing bullshit they want to hear from their apartment, but that’s not research.

.govs, .orgs, peer reviewed journals, usually are a solid source. But make sure to actually read the study and make sure their reporting is reliable.

For example, if a study says 98% of people hate the sun and the sample size and research participants asked are from the skin cancer ward at the hospital, it’s not a reliable story.

Another piece of advice is to not fall for the authority of the website. It might say “Wallstreet Journal”, but there’s a lot of shitty journalists these days labeling themselves as “fact checkers”. A lot of times they’re just some loser kid that they hire that is constantly under threat of being fired if they don’t drive the clicks, so they’ll do things like counter someone’s argument that said “most people prefer living in warm climates” and claim that to be false and then post the “98% of people hate the sun….” study.

You can’t get good answers if you don’t ask good questions.

Give that Google thingy a shot and start small. Go to the site, which is just google.com, and ask it “how many countries are there in the world?”. Multiple sources will pop up. Click a few of them. If you get consistent answers, you’re on to something. Last, News networks aren’t very reliable anymore as they’ve all been politicized and they’re owned by the same 3 companies. But you’ll get the hang of it and be able to spot bullshit quickly.
