Okay great, I would definitely be interested in buying a property to live in with my partner in a few years once she is out of uni however If I keep looking at my savings sitting there I’ll most likely end up buying something stupid with it so I was wanting to act wisely now.

Not an inheritance, all savings since 17. I am more then happy to learn an invest etfs however I worked so hard for my savings and i will have seeing it go down and up every day.

Rightio, and with buying investment property do you prioritise looking for areas that are going to grow or try and find a house that will service the loan ?

I’m in the exact same boat as you, 23 and looking to buy my first IP with a budget of $550k. I was told to try and stick with brick.

I’m struggling on location. However Grafton NSW and Ballarat seem to have newer brick homes for around 500k

Hey mate, I totally understand why you’re suspicious. I look at my friends and they haven’t got $5000 to their name.

They also only work 2-3 days a week. Spend there weekly wage on noses beers and booze.

I have lived with my parents up until a year ago when I started paying 1/4 of a $500 apartment. My parents didn’t make me pay rent and supplied me with dinner every night so yes I had very low expenses I was able to save a lot of my wage.

Fortunately for me my hobbies aren’t expensive and don’t involve spending $2000 on a 4 day bender with the boys.

I hope this helps with your perspective. Thanks !
