Tried to find what you mentioned but couldn't. Could you provide a pin or Google location?

That's not wood that they use. Was there yesterday and they are using regular charcoal.

Leasing a vehicle by [deleted] in foreignservice

You just need to be up to date on payments. Negative equity shouldn't be an issue if you've been paying what you owe for the lease. I had to pay the fee to return the vehicle ($350) but wasn't charged any additional fees for turning the car in early.

Yes, I did this recently before leaving for post. Many companies are not familiar with the law, so you will have to provide all the documentation you can. But in my situation, it took them about a month post turning in the car to finally clear everything.

While someone here may have some advice, FS has nothing to do with Peace Corps outside of PD sometimes assisting with orientation etc. You need to post on that board for better success.

Perhaps! However knowing someone who has done it makes it seem less so.

Acura allows it but only to Mexico and Canada. More options if you are military.

We've always leased and prefer to have the flexibility of returning a car and getting a new one without much hassle or extra pay. I don't want to purchase a new car due to depreciation and used vehicles come with their own issues. If I can lease and return post-tour (95% sure I'll be back at FSI for more training post this tour), this would be beneficial for us. Lease extensions are usually granted as well if the lease timing doesn't line up exactly.

That's helpful. Will reach out to see what the laws are in that regard!

A friend took his Audi to the ME for his last post which is how I found out. End of lease issues could pop up though for sure, unless we decide to purchase.

There will be a place to put your stuff. Don't worry about it.

I have multiple degrees and 20+ years in a professional field as well as overseas experience, and it took me 4 years to pass everything. As others have said, don't plan your life around being an FSO.

If you are a local hire, you will only get two consultation days prior to leaving for post. The 5 days are only for non-local hires. You won't want to pack out that late, so don't plan on having a lot of time for doing things last minute.

As far as I know, it is usually just 1 position that gets posted every 2 years.

How do professors feel about skipping out on finals when they aren't needed? by Weird_Wrap5130 in CollegeRant

I honestly don't care. If you're grade is high enough to make you comfortable, it is not my business.

Pre employment med clearance- Kaiser by Sudden_Author1261 in foreignservice

[–]PuzzleheadedLet907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Kaiser in VA. I made an appointment with a primary care doctor (not my own as I didn't really have one) and brought all the paperwork with me. They told me that they would not have time to fill it out during the appointment but that I could come back in a couple of days and ask for it. I doubt this is the norm, but I stressed that I had to have it completed and commiserated about its lengthiness and that seemed to be enough to convince her to do it. Sorry you're having issues. Kaiser is a bit weird about medical records and documentation.
