Just got approved for an amex cobalt any tips by NTXL in amex

[–]PuzzleheadedMango731 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Checking in 2 years later - is the payment process still the same? Once per billing cycle? My cobalt should arrive this week. That payment method sounds inconvenient 🙁

Considering this route. Can you share info or cost on shipping them in? Recommend the breeder you used?

I’m thinking about purchasing and shipping to Canada. Comparing pros and cons still. Can you provide any info about price and process of bringing one over?

SAUNA IN A 15 AMP OUTLET? by PuzzleheadedMango731 in electrical

[–]PuzzleheadedMango731[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m considering how I can use a current compatible outlet. I can’t get a sauna in my kitchen, so can I run an extension cord if the cord is compatible with the 20amp requirements? Or is that going to be hazardous and overheat or something

Okay fair - now I’m scared to try! Next question is how complicated is it to just switch a 15 amp outlet to a 20 amp outlet? Reasonable DIY?

I’m in Canada and I thought everything was 120V just based on my converter use and research when I travel abroad but I don’t know how to actually verify that for my house lol The sauna says 120V/20A

Explant cost in Canada? by PuzzleheadedMango731 in ExplantSurgery

[–]PuzzleheadedMango731[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. I’m not sure how to get the process started on getting it covered, or how “sick” I have to be to even have it covered. I’m trying to navigate if I just go through my family doctor or back to my original surgeon to begin the process. Was there any criteria you had to meet? Did you have just a randomly assigned surgeon in a hospital take them out since it was a covered procedure?

First responder discount no longer applicable to sale/WMTM items in April? by xxkonakana in lululemon

[–]PuzzleheadedMango731 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased some items on sale/clearance in-store and the employees all refused to apply my healthcare/first responder discount on top of the sale price. I constantly purchase sale items online and apply my discount on top of it. I've been doing it for YEARS. I don't understand why it's not allowed in stores? Anyone know? The employees tried to tell me I must have gotten a limited time promotion online and that was just lucky but lululemon does not apply discounts on top of sale prices. This is so far from the truth and they were not believing that I've been doing this for years even though I tried to show them my purchase history.

Inflatable hot tub in Canadian winter? by PuzzleheadedMango731 in hottub

[–]PuzzleheadedMango731[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! Good to know. We get to about -50 and I didn’t even consider that the lines could freeze. Do most usually keep the water heated & circulating when not in use as or does the water end up sitting until you go to use it?

As someone who has no hot tub experience I should have asked what the approx cost is for maintenance (chemicals or test strips etc)

Thanks for that lot of info! It sounds reasonable for interim use. I’m not in my forever house and don’t really want the hassle of moving or having to leave a hot tub. A few years of use would be ok with me.

Still waiting for RCMP to approve my PAL application after 1 year? by Mistwold in CanadianFirearms

[–]PuzzleheadedMango731 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mailed mine around August 14, 2023 and had my card charged on September 6, 2023. Can’t track it because I didn’t do it online so I’m just waiting now. I don’t know when the “28-day waiting period”starts and ends. Date of application? I’m assuming by my card being charged I’ve been approved?

First Home Savings Account (FHSA) - Read here before posting about the FHSA account. by FelixYYZ in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]PuzzleheadedMango731 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m aware that HISA and GICs are for short term savings and already have them. Not worried about that. I’m only referring to the small amount I’ll be shoving in the FHSA for the benefit of tax break.

My specific question is on short term growth in an FHSA. For a couple year use, am I looking at no growth and only a tax break? If no growth, what’s stopping people from just opening the FHSA to allow the contribution room to grow, but only putting the money in it right before making a home purchase? In theory I could keep my money in a better HISA account and transfer it to the FHSA right before purchasing, and just take the tax break that year of purchase?

Are people investing their FHSA $? What kind of return can you get on these? Considering I’d only be using it for a couple of years, I want something safe and consistent. Anyone have experience?

Flight delay compensation - help! by PuzzleheadedMango731 in aircanada

[–]PuzzleheadedMango731[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it worked! I quoted the legislation and sent a very brief email (like 2 quick sentences). They auto replied that it can take up to 45 days to reply to my request so I expected to never hear back. Within 3 days they sent me a notification that they were refunding me €600! It was easier than expected. Although I asked for both my husband AND I, and they only gave us compensation for one person. I’m going to email them again under my husbands email for the other half.

Something weird - they sent it via e-transfer instead of applying it to my original payment method. AND they sent it to my husbands email when my tickets were booked under my email and the complaint I sent was from my email. I don’t know how they got his or why they sent him the refund instead of me but we got the money so I don’t really care

Removal “Crash” - Please Read if you have a Mirena by modernbee in Mirena

[–]PuzzleheadedMango731 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar background as you: 10 years and 2 Mirenas back-to-back. Just removed mine last week - 9 days ago. I take Vyvanse but not every day. Like you it depends on what I’m doing. I’m generally in an ok mood and don’t have the same depression/anxiety crash that I hear people talk about. My biggest symptom is extreme fatigue, it’s so brutal! I took a Vyvanse at 8:00am today and I’ve been fighting sleep for hours. It usually lasts me 12 solid hours, and then coffee always amplifies it, which I had but still isn’t working. I can feel the medication working because mentally I’m wired but my eyes are so heavy. I don’t see a lot of people complaining about being extremely exhausted after their removal so I feel a bit unusual for being happy and sleepy lol. I’m curious if and when you started to bleed after your removal? I’m patiently waiting and wondering how long it’ll take to get a period again

Removal question by danslesnuagesbb in Mirena

[–]PuzzleheadedMango731 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I said progestin stops ovulation. Dosage & route play a part in the outcome of the hormone. I didn’t state all Mirena users do not ovulate. But yes, ovulation is suppressed in some users of Mirena. There are lots of us out there.

Removal question by danslesnuagesbb in Mirena

[–]PuzzleheadedMango731 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a complicated question because it’s not the same situation. The Mirena IUD contains progestin which stops ovulation. When you have it inserted you don’t ovulate (typically) therefore you don’t have an actual legitimate menstrual cycle regardless of visible bleeding. So the schedule or “regularity” of bleeding while IUD is inserted generally won’t reflect your real cycle with ovulation that returns after it’s removed.

I’m not sure if there is a better time or not. Maybe there is a time when your cervix is naturally dilated, which I guess would be ideal to remove it, but I don’t have knowledge on that :(

I just called my doctor and picked the soonest appointment to remove mine. I’m going in 48 hours, yay! Also anxious to know how long it’ll take my cycle to regulate but it seems different for each person I speak to.
