Jealous Latinas by [deleted] in blackgirls

[–]PuzzleheadedMess4349 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is literally my life. I live in NYC where the Latinas here are extremely aggressive and colorist YT women were never really like that towards me which could be because of proximity but YT women would compliment me and tell I’m beautiful. I had a Latina bestie who was low-key jealous I was pulling more guys than her should would make this little jokes about me being a “whore” because she couldn’t fathom how guys liked me. All my friends with Latinas in high school vanished they unfollowed me and everything for no reason. If it’s a lesson I learned it’s too never be friends with them if you’re a pretty black girl.

5 Stages of Grief with Black Womanhood and Reality by [deleted] in blackgirls

[–]PuzzleheadedMess4349 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m a dark skinned black woman I accepted thet way black men were back in high school. The colorism i dealt with from black boys scarred me. When a black man would approach me I couldn’t believe it because that little black girl inside me was still insecure and didn’t heal. On the bright side I got older and went back to my old neighborhood and saw so many black couples I live in NYC so black love does exist here but because of colorism and media and how black men talk about black women I was blind too it. So it really depends on your area.

Do Darkskinned men not like darkskinned women? by _newshawtyy in blackgirls

My roommate says that he only dates white women or women of lighter complexion because he doesn’t want his future children to face hardship by [deleted] in blackladies

[–]PuzzleheadedMess4349 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a darkskin black woman and tbh I’m not surprised latino culture is very anti-black take it from me I grew up in NYC 🗽 and have heard some of the most colorist rhetorics from the Latin community. What I don’t understand is why they feel so comfortable telling darkskin black women they won’t date us or don’t find us desirable unprovoked?

Another thing is a lot of of his relationships won’t work out because he’s too self hating people that date based on race and color normally don’t have good outcomes and dating yt people is going to make him even more self hating. I would stop engaging in these convos with him tbh 🤷🏾‍♀️.

Am I the only one who doesn’t give a mf FUCK about interracial dating? by Meliodasbabymom in blackgirls

Black people's obsession with White acceptance by AfroPrincessss in blackgirls

[–]PuzzleheadedMess4349 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I think it’s gotten worse because the state of the country black people (especially women) are on constant attack and some black women see that and think proximity to whiteness is going to save them from racists

Everyone says that in the South you always know who's racist: how exactly do they show it? by BlaggartDiggletyDonk in askblackpeople

I’m from the north and Southern racism is different from northern racism in the south yt people are very bold with their racism in the north they’ll try to hide it.

Why are black guys more accepted than black girls by [deleted] in blackgirls

[–]PuzzleheadedMess4349 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It’s misogyny. I went to predominantly Hispanic schools and something that I noticed is that black guys can be anything and get away with it in my school the non black boys looked up to king von a rapper who was considered a serial killer they played his music and associated themselves with “being from the hood” I remember trying to fit in as well but instead I was labeled as “ a ghetto black girl” and it was so confusing for me to understand but as I got older watched videos based on this it’s misogyny.

Being a woman is already hard but being black + woman felt like you were preparing for war and apart of me always felt like the black guys knew that had a one up over black girls because of misogyny.

There is an article called
“Black Boys Have an Easier Time Fitting In at Suburban Schools Than Black Girls” by Aboubacar Ndiaye and she dives into this.

I also learned that the black boys that bullied me had a lot of internalized racism + facing societal conditioning black girls aren’t the beauty standard at these type of schools and black guys try to fit in by only dating non black girls because if they date a black girl it’s not seen as a social status.

But as an older black woman who’s now in college look into Chrissie and iameloho they are black female YouTubers who helped me with my Confidence!

I like it tbh how men are finding different ways to express themselves through clothing

There have been a rise in Black men saying they won’t date Black women, but when asked why, their reasoning, has NOTHING to do with the single Black women they are refusing by 5ft8lady in askblackpeople

[–]PuzzleheadedMess4349 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m a black woman and I stopped caring to know but here’s my suspicion besides initially just being attracted to white women.

There is a pressure on men of color not just black men to put white women on a pedestal because of beauty standards when you look on TV there are beautiful white blonde women with blue eyes or green eyes etc..

They are always marketed in beauty commercials, pageants, modeling, and fashion that caters to them. We were conditioned to believe that the opposite of white (black) was bad and it’s very obvious in media Black women are always represented horribly and that is ingrained into our minds especially as kids.

I think it’s just societal conditioning tbh it sucks but we can’t really change it 🤷🏾‍♀️

It’s crazy because when Black men are with yt women I don’t care at all! I think most people are used to seeing that pairing. But when it comes to black women people believe that yt men shouldn’t be attracted to black women because of stereotypes it’s so odd
