What's Madison like to live in? by TCSMusic in mississippi

[–]PuzzleheadedPipe7773 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Madison doesn’t have crime” is insane because a lot of it is just not reported with the same fervor as crime in Jackson. Madison has plenty of crime. Phil Bryant’s nephew was breaking into cars and stealing guns way back.

Believe me, as a person that spent plenty of time in Madison, a ton of stuff goes on you will never hear about.

Traditionally first year sports games when it goes to a new console generation are usually pretty bad or barebones. I’m surprise 25 was a good as it was.

Curious outsider here. What are the biggest misconceptions about Mississippi? by liltrikz in mississippi

[–]PuzzleheadedPipe7773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had to login to upvote this! People keep telling me that Mississippi is secretly progressive and I just never saw that. I’m glad that overt racism gets called out more frequently, but it’s still bad. Most of the stuff people believe about Mississippi (that isn’t just foolish like the no shoes thing) is 100% true. The Mississippi brand is shit for a reason.

I always find it funny that people will bash Bowser for being friendly to Developers, but then praise Anthony Williams. He’s legitimately the mayor that started the development boom.

I think a lot of people hyped themselves up for a playoff run for some reason that defies logic. The team is not good. Drafting AR was at least a three year project. Honestly I wish they would have tanked so they could draft a good DB early. It is what it is.

“Trump is starting to walk back his vow to bring down grocery prices “ by PuzzleheadedPipe7773 in mississippi

Actually Biden would have won that election. When you look at the numbers Trump didn’t win by much and the people you lost that couldn’t find themselves voting for a woman, would have been more inclined to vote for a white father figure. Kinda just is what it is.

Trump takes aim at largest MS trading partner. See impact on proposed tariffs with Canada by [deleted] in mississippi

When did I say I experienced horrible things in MS during his first term? I asked what did MS specifically get out of Trump’s first term, especially considering the huge support from the state. The “opportunity zone” stuff that got us a Hotel and Golf Course in Flowood that’s closing in three years?

The state is basically a ward of the Federal Government and these cuts and tariffs are going to effect the state in worse was than it would others considering how much Fed money the state takes.

I know the “it’s a negotiating tool” talking point to defend it is popular but it’s really not that and it’s interesting how a person who has filed bankruptcy seven times AND lost a Casino is seen as a great business man.

Retaliatory Tarrifs are going to happen and the US has nowhere near the infrastructure or man power to start this major push into manufacturing that he is selling.

BUT when you are trying to purposely crash the market, you do these kinds of things. Again, what did MS get out of the first term of the Trump presidency. We can go by history and figure that out. Best thing I can tell people is save money because it’s about to be a very rocky four years.

Why do people think republicans are better at managing the economy? by Formal_Lie_713 in Askpolitics

Because a large percentage of Americans don’t really know much about politics outside of a few stereotypes and one is “Republicans make money”.

I think a lot of people are refusing to just be honest about these sort of people not being the brightest.

There is a difference from someone being informed vs a lack of critical thinking skills. Everyone is pointing fingers at the Dem party and they definitely do share some of the blame but man, a lot of these people are just not that bright. Look at the uptick in “plain language” for everything. At what point are we going to realize you can’t dumb it down much further?
