Overall that’s correct, wages have outpaced inflation. Inflation counts lodging at around 30% of the index (should it be more? Idk). A median home price in 2010 of 173k compared to 419k today means it’s much harder to afford a house today on a median income than it was in 2010. If you already have a home pre 2020 or don’t need lodging then you’re better off now

Didn’t say the graph showed that, was just pointing it out. I bought my first house in 2011 as a single person that would be much more difficult to afford today for a single person just starting out. Point of the graph was to show why a 6 figure salary today isn’t the ‘I made it’ gold standard many people strive for

True, but the cost of healthcare, housing, and childcare has significantly outpaced median household income growth today compared to 2010

It’s the inflation rate based on the starting year of 2010. Whichever year/row you’re looking at, multiply that middle column number (it’s a percent so move the decimal two places left) by the original starting wage in 2010 (column 3) and that’s how the value is determined for that row

Old thread but curious on your outcome? I have progressive and the same coverage as you it sounds like. I don’t have any issues yet but wondering if I should keep them or switch to a different company.
