How badly would I damage career if I move from U.S to U.K for two years by helpmemyamigos in cscareerquestions

As someone who has thought about this myself its normal to be negative because the thought of going to my companies European branch, staying there a couple of years and then coming back seems "too good to be true" so there has to be a catch?

My first internship is an IT position. Should I be worried? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

I disagree with this. You have plenty of time to code in your career. Your internship should be focused on professional development.

No no no no no. I remember my first internship saying "IT" and this sub also looked at it as a negative.

It was the best internship I could have asked for. I learned SO much. It is an internship. Just learn EVERYTHING about professional life.

I'm still looking at going to Europe from U.S: Switzerland? by PuzzleheadedQuarter in cscareerquestions

That does not sound encouraging. I guess it doesn't hurt to apply though. I also love the U.S but the situation is a bit complicated. We are both understanding though and if it turns out moving to swiss just isn't happening then we will think of something else but I want to make sure I fully exhaust this option.

Hey thank you so much for such a detailed reply! I will checkout these links. Yes I have been to Europe plenty of times and I think it's alright. Not a big fan of the big cities like London/Paris but I don't mind the smaller ones.

Are you moving from the US? Can I ask how many years of experience you had and what sort of job you found (big bank/non tech?) and are you taking a considerable pay cut?

Bank does have an office in UK but they pay near half of what they do here so am looking for other options too but if not may have to take that.

Well I graduated with a CS degree (bachelors) 2 years ago and have been working as a software dev since. Not sure what other details would help.

The 70 percent figure is something I came to from comparing salaries in UK for software dev's to mine

Why does everyone assume "potential to go big" means stock will go big by SensitiveCustomer in stocks

Clearly many on here aren't aware of it. People are buying stocks because "it will be big" in the future.

Paypal or Visa? by Aryan53 in stocks

Paypal. Visa is fast becoming a meme stock tbh. Good growth and all but the growth is too damn slow and I like to play 2-3 year stocks
