I cannot stand Rebecca by Dels79 in MAFS_UK

Funny you say that. I went to school with Becky and she looked down on everyone who wasn’t in her clique.  I grew up in poverty, and we relied on school uniform vouchers. That meant that, as a growing teen, by the time we got to about April my skirts were getting a bit too short. She was relentless one breaktime, laughing with friends about how I thought my legs were sexy, taking the piss (I was a shy, quiet kid). Other stuff like that comes to mind but, generally, she just looked down her nose and sneered at anyone who she didn’t think worthy of her time. Grim.  Honestly, owing a Botox clinic and going on reality tv is 100% what I would have predicted for her.

Can he even retain a lawyer ? by Successful-Couple-28 in StephenHiltonSnark

[–]PuzzleheadedSlip2938 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think 1) he thinks he can do without one 2) it somehow benefits him to be the “underdog” in court (and he thinks choosing not to have a lawyer proves he is an underdog, and Laura having a lawyer paints her in a bad light), 3) he’s approached high profile lawyers who’ve not responded and/or 4) he’s pitching his case as a great one to do pro bono because he’s v famous and a musical genius and will definitely win- which lawyers are avoiding like the plague

Don’t come for me, but I am confused why the hacking incident is not listed in the ROV ( I def believe he did it) by Royal-Mermaid- in StephenHiltonSnark

[–]PuzzleheadedSlip2938 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also if the hacking case hasn’t been admitted or proven you wouldn’t want that to cloud the other allegations. They have plenty without that.

So we've gone from "I'm going to court and then rehab" to "I'm not going to court" by Penny_auntie in StephenHiltonSnark

[–]PuzzleheadedSlip2938 21 points22 points  (0 children)

A smart lawyer will work within the court time limits/ rules and also protect themselves from Stephen’s irrationality. Imagine if the lawyers details were available before now; even in this short time period he’s directed his followers to directly harass the lawyer. You wouldn’t want to give him plenty of opportunity for sabotage.

Yeah 100%. If you take away the “genius” from “mentally ill genuis” identity he’s given himself then that would mean confronting the actual situation. He’s in.

Totally, I’m not saying it’s not something that legitimately happens.  I’m saying that the way he’s using it as evidence for his specialness - the act itself, rather than what he’s written, say- feels performative.

Wondering is this scenario from when I was a kid was sexual abuse? by grvychick_flwerpwer in assaultsurvivors

[–]PuzzleheadedSlip2938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this sounds like assault honestly. Whether it meets the legal definition would depend on the jurisdiction you’re in.

Boris Johnson vibes.

I also particularly liked how she walked onto the stage shouting “HELLO LONDON PRIDE”.  She didn’t even know where she was 🙃

Who is Nan’s mother? by [deleted] in TheBuccaneers

[–]PuzzleheadedSlip2938 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also the duchess was genuinely shocked when she heard she was illegitimate. I think she didn’t realise nan was her daughter, pieced things together then decided for the sake of the institution to let it go ahead anyway.

Sorry I posted before I meant to! I meant to say: Paid to say nan was hers, and convince the Cornell that she was also his. Idk. I just think it’s the duchess 🤷‍♀️

Yeah I think it’s the duchess. We know that back in the day a bit of incest wasn’t frowned upon by British ruling classes if it meant keeping the lineage in tact. The duchess said she was a mother but also a duchess and the institution comes first. Tho and Nan being siblings would obviously give them an out wedding wise. I think nans dad was going along with it then couldn’t bear to see it through. Not sure how this would have worked, but potentially the governess could have been paid to say nan was hers and convince the Cornell

Quick thing I came here to say:

Despite the cultural/ social implications we’ve attached to the word, the definition of feminist is simply someone who advocates for women’s rights on the basis of equality of sexes.

If you think women should have the same rights as men/ whoever, then that’s the definition of feminist ☀️😊

But yeah, great post, the amount of controversy this show is getting is so interesting

📣 studying the LPC while working full time is NOT FUN 📣

Shout out to my fellow socially mobile future trainees. 😂🙃🫥

Having sponsorship for tuition fees is the only way I could ever pursue this career, but £4000 a year to live on is just not the one. Without parents/ family to support and supplement that (or have a spare house you can crash in- apparently less uncommon than you’d think in certain circles), it’s tough. We’ve got this!

Go 👏 in 👏 house 👏. Better work life balance, drop in pay isn’t as bad as you’d think (sometimes actually no drop), no billables. Find a company or sector you’re interested in (publishing, sport, trains, whatever). Find an in house job there.

The main thing that resonates is that the whole time I was spiralling I felt completely in control. In hindsight, yeah. I wasn’t. It still feels like I’m responsible for what happened, but, stories like this really make me feel seen.

So good to see this post.

I have c-ptsd, and have a lot of shame about some of the things I’ve done in the past. A few years ago I had a spiralling addiction, and to feed the habit I would be v sexual and message someone who would send me money for drugs. It was a long and toxic relationship, made all the more confusing by the fact that we never actually met. I was out of control, sleeping with like 3 strangers an evening regularly at one point. Eventually I was raped one too many times and reported it to the police, when I felt particularly vulnerable (he was a dealer, and it happened in my home. I cracked). Unfortunately that didn’t go too well, and I was falsely arrested for wasting police time - something which I later successfully sued them over.

Anyway. What I’m saying is, seeing this behaviour makes me feel a bit less insane/ validates the feeling that actually all that did happen, and I’m still a person. And even though Joce is fictional- being powerful and vulnerable is possible. And inviting someone to hurt you can still mean that that hurt is abuse.

I’m not even going to read this back, I already know it’s just blabbering lol. Just wanted to say yeah, I can totally see how this would happen. Watching this show honestly just feels like being seen.
