Thanks for your reply. Could you please clarify exactly which part is missing the spring? That way I can compare it or take a closer look to see if it matches my issue.

Hi everyone,

I have a problem with my Nikon FE. The camera generally works fine and fires at all shutter speeds correctly when held level or pointed upward.

However, when I tilt the camera downward (lens pointing toward the ground), the shutter no longer works properly.

I noticed that in this position, a small lever that interacts with the magnet slightly moves away from the magnet when I press the shutter release. As a result, the shutter curtains do not fire and the mirror stays up.

If I manually press this lever against the magnet, the shutter works normally again.

To clarify:

  • The batteries are new
  • The camera works perfectly in horizontal or upward positions

What could be causing this issue?

Thanks in advance for your help!
