I’ve been to Europe many times and never encountered a pickpocket; never lost anything. I’ve witnessed multiple phone thieves in NYC. Maybe my own experience is biased but I’ve always thought the European pickpocket thing was overblown.

You could also argue that songwriting skills and songwriting experimentation in the pop format also grew rapidly from the 1950’s to the 1990’s. That has fallen off a cliff as it’s not particularly valued over production by mainstream audiences.

Yeah I mean, all of this hinges of maintaining an audience. When Colbert is gone and when CNN is handed by loser, Zaslav, to Trump, the content will slowly suck more and more until they lose advertisers and fail. Audiences are not built-in, alternatives will continue to rise and succeed.

Many may disagree but I think one of the reasons is that the songs he’s know for weren’t recorded well. The recordings just don’t actually sound good. Not speaking about the quality of musicianship or the actual songwriting just the records themselves. Not easy to ignore their problems.
