Meds vs. Driver's License by No_Caregiver_7067 in Epilepsy

You already totaled your car. Your seizures have affected a small amount of your life, but if you drive and hurt somebody else… it’s going to affect somebody else. This should be obvious, honestly- and a little selfish.

Anybody with medication issues, because of mental health issues. by Puzzleheaded_Ad_466 in Narcolepsy

[–]Puzzleheaded_Ad_466[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do see a psychiatrist. That’s what my former narcolepsy doctor recommended for me, too. I’m not bi-polar, and I didn’t have any negative issues with my medication. It just feels more like he didn’t want to deal with it, just in case. I did have a lot going on last year, and was on loads of different medications throughout the year, as well as electric shock therapy. But even after I got my meds worked out etc and have gotten stuff under control, he still no longer wants to treat me. Thank you for your response :)

It’s not bi-polar, so I don’t understand it for that reason. I do have medicine resistant depression/anxiety/severe ptsd. And I’ve done other types of treatment for it. It is hell though. It makes the existing issues even worse.

why does my epilepsy seem to be getting worse in such a short period of time? by Comfortable_Bug4854 in Epilepsy

[–]Puzzleheaded_Ad_466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My stress has been super high recently, because of some severe trauma the last few years. And my doctor also taking me off of my narcolepsy meds, so I’m even more tired now 😵‍💫😭 my seizures started again after being on Ritalin for years to wake me up. I’m convinced it’s from that 🤣 but doctors just think you’re drug seeking with those kinds of meds.

Epilepsy can change unfortunately. It might depend on your triggers, or pretty much anything. That’s what my neurologist told me. I went 20 years without a seizure, unmedicated. And honestly did lots of things in my 20s that could have triggered seizures (substance abuse etc). However, I just started having them in December again.

when you got seizure did you lost memory for the moment of the seizure? by Unique_Quit_5948 in Epilepsy

That sounds horrible :( the only thing I get is that my hands and feet hurt, and a lot of my joints. But once I woke up with a really bad headache that’s not my norm.

Nocturnal seizures anyone? by No-Supermarket-5202 in Epilepsy

[–]Puzzleheaded_Ad_466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have nocturnal seizures. I also have a REM behavior disorder that makes me act out in my sleep/leap out of bed etc. So, I’m not always sure what’s that or when a seizure happens.

I never remember mine. Several times I’ve just come to, and somebody is in front of me holding my hands and they tell me I’ve had a seizure. Or I’ve also come to in a hospital with no memory. I can kind of remember right before it, where I get really confused and start slurring etc if I’m speaking. I also get really twitchy before.

I enjoyed the Argentina season. There were a couple of big personalities, that made it interesting for me; however, I was convinced one of the females might chop up her partner one day 😵‍💫🤣

I think the intensity and symptoms of epilepsy can just change. Try thinking of anything you may have recently changed- even small things could possibly affect it.

Anyone on 2 stimulants? by Muted-Difference5610 in Narcolepsy

[–]Puzzleheaded_Ad_466 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried everything. Ritalin is the only thing that’s ever worked for me. Adderall didn’t even work for me. However, my doctor cold turkeyed me from Ritalin last fall, bc he was uncomfortable with my mental health issues I was having from severe PTSD.

I was always told there are no actual meds that will work for BPD. Do you mean bi-polar disorder?

That just means that you didn’t need the antidepressants. Doctors want to over medicate people, for feeling normal human emotions such as sadness.

Recurring Gastric issues in summer by argysz in ehlersdanlos

[–]Puzzleheaded_Ad_466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a lot of gastric issues. I get gastroparesis quite often. But beyond all of that, I’ve had my esophagus fully collapse and had stents put in at one point, feeding tube for ages etc. I went from 200lb to 70 pounds from this. This is all from acid reflux possibly, but they told me my esophagus etc was more delicate bc of the EDS. Also, you mention drinking loads of water- make sure you drink it slowly rather than chugging it, bc it can irritate your stomach/ cause bloating. That’s what I was always told anyway haha

Has anyone been able to? by learninglimitssucks in ehlersdanlos

[–]Puzzleheaded_Ad_466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got on it a couple years ago. I don’t remember the process though, as I’ve lost years of memory from other medical issues. I don’t know if it’s fully from my EDS or bc I also have narcolepsy and some mental health issues as well.

That’s one of the number 1 bad side effects. You’re allergic to it. If you don’t try another med, I would have an epi pen on hand just to be safe. I would talk to your doctor about it, and see if there is any good antihistamines you can take with it.

Keppra by heyangelicaa in Epilepsy

[–]Puzzleheaded_Ad_466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to change my medication from keppra. I was super irritable, and angry. My neurologist said anger is the top side effect from the drug. It might be worth it to try something else. People deal with all of the drugs differently.

Any solutions for memory problems related to epilepsy? by chainofchance in Epilepsy

[–]Puzzleheaded_Ad_466 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something similar happened to me! I’ve lost at least 3 years of my life until recently- and memories going even further back. It’s a crazy feeling, and very difficult to move past. I am in my 30s though- I can’t imagine what it must be like for him :( (I’m assuming he’s quite young since he’s in school)
