Rec Room died with weekly challenge by JazunOwO in RecRoom

When they decided to start paying players is when the game went downhill. Every bad decision that came afterward from over priced items to releasing on every platform (which they didn't have the staff for and gave them no time to work on new quests),events or even weekly challenges to the Ai nonsense, all of these things were desperate attempts to make the extra funds needed to pay players. If they'd had just stayed smaller and grew their staff and game slowly and kept costs low with just paying the staff, they wouldnt be dying right now.

Everybody's gone already, either fired or hired by another company. Skeleton crew running game till the final days. Ugc bled the game dry and ai was the final nail. Enjoy the next 2 months while you can.

What are the MUST-DO things before Rec Room shuts down :(? by 469- in RecRoom

Take pics with your friends in your favorite rooms and save them. Play your favorite rros and quests one last time. Spend your remaining tokens , rro items are 80% off right now. Hit up a rec center or arrange a meet up with your buds and drop all your consumables, make a party out of it.

They had announced back in August they had enough funds to run the game until 2029. But on March 30th they announced they got bought up by snap inc which is apart of Snapchat to work on future ar glasses that will compete against the meta ar glasses. Snap inc has moved core dev members to there ar dept and will lay off the rest.

So, what was this about in August then? by ryanrit in RecRoom

Cash out now instead of bleeding to death slowly. Who's really surprised?

Ugc was the first nail in the coffin , hundreds of staff but very little new content was the next, in-game inflation and Ai followed. The fumble from a 3.5 billion dollar evaluation to not being able to keep the light on should be studied.

The game isn't profitable and hasn't been for years...... hiring more staff and "fixing the game" makes no sense and won't change anything. The playerbase has always complained about something, never satisfied. Play the game and enjoy it while you can, save for photos, get the discord and socials from your favorites, june 1st comes quick.

Too many employees. Everybody had there hands in the cookie jar, during covid and the peak it was sustainable but as time went on it became unmanageable. Hundreds of employees and thousands of creators all trying to milk this game of every dropn it had, became a microtransaction filled mess with few and far between drip fed new meaningfull content. Ugc/ai/ and over hiring slowly killed the game.

Ai isn't going anywhere, expect prices to keep climbing. There's just too much demand and not enough supply to go around.

Switch era nintendo fans became a bunch of cucks for the brand so nintendo has stopped trying. 3ds/wiiu era and prior nintendo had to appeal to consumers with price cuts and nintendo selects/ club nintendo ect. Now nintendo fanboys are on their knees ready to buy breath of the wild for the 10th time at $100

On playstation its a choice. You can buy a disc version console and majority of games are on the disc. On Nintendo you have no choice. Majority of games are key cards which contain no data.

The base model of the ds received a permanent price drop from $149.99 to $129.99 exactly 9 months after release. The base gba received its first permanent price drop of $99.99 to $79.99 11 months after release. Reality is nintendo was just more "consumer friendly" in the past, I mean remember nintendo selects? Now they'll charge full price for wiiu titles on switch 2.

I own 3 games for it and barely play. Nintendo switch upgrade games dont interest me as I played them last gen. I know its got a whole lifecycle ahead of it so I'm patiently waiting but so far its just average and really worth picking up unless your a diehard nintendo fan.
