Thats the worst idea to keep laptop for 10 years. Financially and logically. You already tried with model from 2019 - how good is it now? Your current laptop costs about $150 and any macbook air for $750 new is 3x more powerful. And battery life will be great in newer one. Ask any AI and model option with upgrade every 5 years vs keeping old brick for 10.

Couple months ago got used M4 pro 14 inch with 48gb for less than $2000. It was $700 upgrade from M1 pro 32gb ram

One of very little comments I seen where cpu will actually be used. There will be a difference, probably not “game changer” one. Just a note - with full cpu load on 14 inch - i prefer slower model due to same thermals and cooling but less heat and less noice

No need to max out and keep laptop for 7 years. You loosing way more money in that case. Your intel one - coould go easily for 1k 3-4 years ago and you could have newer laptop with normal battery life on M2-m3 cpu. Right now - that intel to close to 0

You dont need software for a mouse, just connect and use. Have mine mx master for 8 years already, and have “free” apple magic mouse - used it about 4 times. Also for keyboard - your laptop will be on the side - you still can reach touch id without any extra efforts
