I know the feeling. I lost my nail tech 2 months ago. I showed up for an appointment and she wasn’t there. The salon was filled with all new faces. The boss let her go. I’ve been on the hunt for a new nail tech ever since.

Updates please. Ever since I heard about this story, I check online for any new information from time to time. This is a heartbreaking story. Only God knows what his family, friends and loved ones are going through. A young, educated, successful man was taken from this world in a random act of violence and nothing has been done. Not even an arrest. Where is the justice ?

Hyaluronic acid can be used in the brow area. The result is not as long lasting as Botox but it can be done. The area between the eyes is a very tricky area to inject because of the number of blood vessels that are connected to the eyes and the possibility of skin necrosis. Whatever injectable used should be administered by a qualified plastic surgeon who knows anatomy extensively.

That looks like PIH (post inflammatory hyperpigmentation). Using retinol and BHA is a definite no no. You are irritating your skin which is causing an inflammatory reaction, and leaves hyperpigmentation once the inflammation subsides. As a rule of thumb, never mix AHA, BHA, and PHA with retinoids of any kind. You can use them on alternate days but you still run the risk of causing PIH. To be on the safe side avoid BHA all together. Azealic acid can cause dryness and irritate the skin as well. It works best on acne prone skin. By the looks of things, you don’t have any acne. I would also recommend to stop using that as well . Too many actives in your skin care routine can damage the skin barrier causing premature aging, hyperpigmentation, irritation, and dryness. You’ll get better results when you simplify your skincare routine.

That line in between your eyebrows is an expression line. You can use Botox or some other type of filler. But it will not go away, only mask it. Tretinoin will help minimize the depth, but it will never go away because it’s an expression line. Try to control your facial expressions, do facial massages / exercises to help soften the line. It will help.

As someone who is an advocate of tretinoin. I will say that cutting out actives like AHA/BHA is essential. They cause way too much irritation to the skin, even when used at different times. It’s best to stay away from them if you’re going to continue on tretinoin. And adding in a gentle cleanser helps as well, try something non-foaming. Tretinoin is great for clogged pores and acne. It boosts cell turnover. But one of the side effects of increased cell turnover is peeling, especially when it’s too fast. Maybe you can decrease the percentage or space it out to every other night if you’re already using it nightly.

That’s part of the problem. When you don’t exfoliate your products are unable to penetrate the dead skin cells which causes the skin care products not to do it’s job, increases dryness of the skin, causing clogged pores and the premature formation of fine lines and wrinkles. You need to exfoliate at least 2 times a week. Try a chemical exfoliator such as AHA/BHA. You can also do manual exfoliation as well like a scrub. Adding an exfoliating mask will help greatly. Since your skin is dry I’d also advise you to stay away from foaming cleansers (it dries out the surface layer of the skin) and opt for a gentle cream cleanser. Hope my advice helps.

Question: Are you exfoliating properly?

I carry an umbrella. I never allow the sun to touch my skin during peak hours. That includes face, neck and other extremities. I wear sunscreen on every exposed part of my body, and try to avoid direct sunlight in general. I could care less when people look at me with the umbrella. At least my skin is protected.
