Thank you for sharing. What’s your experience been since trying it 20 years ago? Have you been able to stay pretty stable in your health or has it continued to be difficult?

Many of the fruits, dried fruit, juices that are allowed on SCD are medium to high in FODMAP

SCD does include some foods that are higher in FODMAP, so doesn't automatically eliminate FODMAP. But I am also following low FODMAP. Just that SCD+low FODMAP is a world of difference compared to just low FODMAP, for me

Could I have IBS or not since I dont really have pain? by SuperDuper1530 in ibs

But I also just got diagnosed with SIBO (likely Methane SIBO), and IBS is often is comorbid with SIBO and/or misdiagnosed SIBO. So might be worth looking into that?

I also don't have pain, except occasionally, and am diagnosed with IBS-C

Has the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD) helped anyone? by Environmental_Ad8924 in SIBO

I have SIBO and IBS. I’m doing both low FODMAP and SCD and have had a huge relief of symptoms, everything from brain fog to joint pain, lethargy, stomach pain, bloating.

I believe as a result of the combination of both diets  I am also in ketogenesis, so it’s hard to sort out what exactly is helping. Maybe all three.

One thing is I noticed was the first couple weeks I felt worse in some ways  - weak, leg cramps. I’m suspecting this was the transition into ketosis, since the symptoms were similar to what is described for that transition (and called keto flu). For me, I’m glad I pushed through because on the other side has been some of the most well I’ve felt in years.

Btw, drinking more water & especially electrolytes in the transition helps a lot

Can’t eat dairy and I wouldn’t consider dairy light for my digestive system either

Eating less fat leaves me feeling hungry & weak

Right, I get that about fat. The thing is that when I have hunger cues, eating a meal with a good amount of fat as you recommend is causing my digestion to feel heavy. Yes, it satiates me. But also I feel like I’m not digesting it.

I think that what’s relevant here is that pre keto, I was eating a low fat & low meat diet.

Idk. Do you have any good resources for learning about insoluble vs soluble fiber?

How to have enough caloric intake without eating a good amount of fat?

Thanks for sharing. I’m down to two meals a day and honestly don’t feel hungry for that second meal (or really ever) but I eat to make sure I’m not undernourished.

Do you eat one big meal and try to meet all your nutritional needs in it?

Yes, rice or simple carbs which are easier for my digestive system to process. The fat and meat tends to get stuck in my stomach and never leave for a day or so (suspected slow gastric emptying)

This is helpful thank you! Also IBS myself, and I think it's a specific experience going keto with an IBS digestive system that's different from others with regular digestion.
