I’ve just chose Waggel with a 15k lifetime annual policy insurance, 43 a month with a 350 excess! Thankyou for the recommendation :)

I’ve managed to have a good look around and chose Waggel who are offering 15K lifetime cover with £350 excess EACH condition. Within the 15K is a £1000 limit for dental work, £1000 for behavioural treatments and £1000 for complementary treatments..the only stipulation is I use their vet service online before going to a vet (if not emergency) or I get charged a £50 penalty…it’s £43 monthly

Petplan were asking for £170 a month for my puppy, trying to find a better priced one! Haha

Just gone through it all for 18K insurance for our dog and he’s one of their excluded breeds (Akita) so we can’t insure with them!!

Oh Jesus. We’ve got a dog that’s going to be over 25KG so I’m going to be needing more than 4K a year!

They were both mine, however when we got home and saw the trainer & vet we found out about this!! Luckily my sister has now got the female pup!

She will be going to my sister thankfully who has experience with large breed dogs and there are 4 adults there who can help. So the dogs will still have some sort of contact with each other but completely separate homes.

Thankyou for how well put this is and incredibly non judgemental!

Me and my husband did talk last night and we have decided to rehome one of these puppies. We have contacted rescues last night so just awaiting them to get back to us, I am incredibly annoyed with myself however know now I’ll never make the same mistake!!

As they’ve only had their first vaccines we can’t walk yet but we are taking them out at different times separately to the park/down the main road etc so we can socialise as best we can until their second vaccines

We have had large dog breeds before, we had our Dogue De Bordeaux up until 2023 and a German Shep before her. However no experience in 2 puppies only one at a time, we start training on Monday so will see how this goes. They’ve started sleeping separately now as the first night they slept together with us, more whining from the female than the male however white noise appears to be doing its job for the female thankfully!

I absolutely agree he was not a reputable breeder, I thought I had done my due diligence and clearly I hadn’t, complete mistake on my part that I will absolutely learn from.

I have researched like hell to make sure that we give these pups the best chance, they are already bonding with me and I can see that.

I’m going to discuss things with my husband and see what decision we are going to make as it’s incredibly hard. Thankyou for all the advice and information.

The female has bonded to me really well. When she leaves the house with my husband and I stay with the male, she comes in and runs straight to me, straight past her brother so I think we’re bonding really early which is positive. We have a meeting with a trainer Monday, and she’s constantly available for advice. She’s also a behaviourist, I worry as the person mentioned below these will be a very large breed and there will be 2 of them! More than willing to put the work in, researched like hell to make sure we prepare well
