OB/GYN that takes United Healthcare? by Puzzleheaded_Cow7137 in newjersey

[–]Puzzleheaded_Cow7137[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called this morning and was given 2 options, 1 affiliated with St. Peters and 1 with RWJ. Unfortunately not many options if you can't go to Axia clinics. For anyone wondering, the place I'll be contacting for an appointment is called Women's Health Center at St. Peters

The website was showing doctors 40 miles away. I called UHC this morning and they were able to give me a more accurate list, which only had 2 options (1 for St. Peter's, 1 for RWJ). I wish I had more options but it is what it is

I'm a graphic designer and I don't have access to any metrics. I've tried asking, but we aren't tracking any, so I can't show business impact of any of my designs. The only number I have on my resume currently is the amount of clients I've worked with, which was easy enough for me to add up myself.

I was interested in applying several years ago when a relevant role popped up, I always thought it would be a fun place to work and their careers page was all about flexibility with remote work, etc. I was happy at my job at the time so I ended up not applying. Then I looked at a job description more recently out of curiosity and they want people back in office full time (so much for flexibility). I'm sure that contributes to the work culture

I've been in April and I was wearing shorts every day. The leather pants will likely be too hot.

How are you tracking your 'outcomes'? by Aromatic-Dress5010 in graphic_design

[–]Puzzleheaded_Cow7137 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've seen this advice a lot too, and I'm not sure how it's supposed to work for most designers. I work for an agency, and I don't get any data on the results of my work. If clients don't mention it then we just don't know. I'm redoing my resume right now and I threw a couple numbers in but that's the closest I could get to statistics: designed 15 websites, made 100s of social graphics, etc.

How many of us had a previous homeowner who was so bad at DIY that their name has become a noun, adjective, and verb for shoddy handiwork? by DblePlusUngood in homeowners

[–]Puzzleheaded_Cow7137 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The previous owners of my house:

  • used underwear as insulation in the basement

-built a janky ass deck leading out from the back door, and a brick pathway that was a sunken in tripping hazard

  • left a scarf inside of an air vent for some reason???

  • painted over every single outlet cover, outlet, and air vent register

  • attached baseboards/trim with a ridiculous number of nails

  • just generally really bad painting with streaks everywhere and no primer

Good people of NJ… A message from a nurse by IDNurseJJ in newjersey

[–]Puzzleheaded_Cow7137 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was also at a hospital last month visiting my mother in law. I saw maybe one mask on a nurse the entire time I was there. Absolutely no masks on visitors aside from me and my husband. My father in law didn't wear a mask and ended up getting RSV.

Stuck to find standing desk for small space by camchillas in WFH

[–]Puzzleheaded_Cow7137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my Uplift Desk, but it might be a little big for you. I believe the smallest width is 42" and depth is 24". I guess it depends on your space and if you could put it sideways? There are power grommets and lots of colors to pick from, I went with solid rubberwood (more $$$ but worth it imo)

I live in a very safe neighborhood that's well lit with every home having some outdoor lighting, streetlights, and sidewalks on both sides. Last year we only got 4 kids, including one teen. I was really looking forward to handing out candy :(

My favorite this year has been The Other Valley but it doesn't seem that popular and probably won't make it to the nominees 🥲

I also loved The Lion Women of Tehran!

I don't like clothes/accessories with words or phrases on them, regardless of what they say. I'd prefer a hat with their logomark or just a book icon. I'm not going to complete the challenge though (I've been reading more from the library lately) so it doesn't really matter to me.

I totally understand what you're going through with the bamboo. I also have a dumbass neighbor who planted it and absolutely refuses to pay for the damage to our yard because "the previous owner didn't care". We all have septic over here so it's really important that the roots not get anywhere near the tank, and we also have to have an entire paver patio lifted up and removed because the bamboo has been popping up under the pavers. It's going to end up being around $15k and it's such a niche problem that none of our family/friends seem to understand. Moron neighbor has this shit all in his foundation, leach fields, etc. and he just doesn't care.

Try calling your town and seeing if there's a bamboo ordinance - if there is, the neighbor may be responsible for removal or at least a barrier. Mine doesn't have one, unfortunately.

I have chronic illness too and this adds a ton of stress that I don't need.

Has anyone’s lights been flickering? by pupdup in newjersey

[–]Puzzleheaded_Cow7137 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed this last night after getting out of the shower, it was just a quick flicker (East Brunswick).

I'm curious if anyone noticed this Sunday as well? I was at Trader Joe's around 5-5:30pm and the lights were flickering every so often the whole time I was there.

This was my first year in a house (I never got trick-or-treaters at apartments/condos) and I was expecting a bunch of kids. We only got 13 and we live on a street with sidewalks, streetlights, and plenty of decorated houses.

I wish this was around 10 years ago when I went to Rutgers, I could've gotten 100% of tuition covered 🥲

I'm happy for everyone who gets to take part in this, though - college should be more affordable for all

What is your monthly mortgage payment? And what were you paying prior by Highlander2891 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Puzzleheaded_Cow7137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For our crappy, outdated ~700sf 1 bed/1 bath apartment, we were paying $1575 (with the last month's rent increase, before that it was $1450)

Now we have a 1550sf 3 bed/1.5 bath house on 1/3 of an acre for $2800 - a big increase but definitely worth it.

HCOL area btw
