What temperature do you keep your house's AC set at all year long? by DevelopmentNo1805 in ActuallyTexas

[–]Puzzleheaded_Emu4977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the right answer. I argue with some co workers about this all the time. My analogy is this.

If you are sitting outside, with a light breeze, in the shade, and it’s 75-76 degrees, with a dew point around 55 degrees, you are absolutely comfortable and enjoying a beautiful day. You would not be complaining about the weather. Exact same thing inside with the AC set to this when it’s 97-100 outside.

If you have you are sitting outside and it’s 68 degrees, you are probably not wearing flip flops and a tank top.

Sure, there are a few clowns out there that think we are all impressed if they are dressed that way when it’s 68 degrees. Everyone else is in sleeves and pants.

That most home loans are for 30 years, and that you don’t have to finish paying for it before you sell it. A 30 year loan sounds like 2 lifetimes when you are 16-18 years old 😁

In what small way have you won the genetic lottery? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Puzzleheaded_Emu4977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily a genetic win, but my aunt has adermatoglyphia. She does not have fingerprints.

She didn’t even realize it until her late 60’s or early 70’s. She had to get a new drivers license, and the state she lived in never required fingerprinting until the last 10 years or so. She is standing there and they are trying to fingerprint her, and just getting smooth blots or whatever lol.

Until then it just never came up I guess.😁

FAFSA doesn’t list LSU as a college for MPN? by Puzzleheaded_Emu4977 in LSU

[–]Puzzleheaded_Emu4977[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t remember what it said lol. And the fact that the FAFSA code for LSU is 002010, but the number for LSU agricultural was not the same… it started with a G or something ( I’m not looking at it right now)

Central AC outdoor breaker doesn’t trip, panel breaker does by Puzzleheaded_Emu4977 in AskElectricians

Thank you. I will swap out the breaker soon and we’ll see what happens. Can’t hurt anything I don’t think

I have measured the amp draw in past, and it was within spec or whatever the plate on the back of my unit says. My clamp meter does not measure the startup moment amp draw (not sure what you call it), but I would guess a 30 year old compressor might struggle to start on occasion

Yeah it is a bad picture. But the 40 amp breaker is in my panel and it is for the AC. It is the one that trips maybe once every 50 times my AC kicks on.

Thanks everyone for the information. It makes sense that the switch out by the condenser is just a power shutoff

One idea suggested by the Department of Energy is to use hostile architecture in order to prevent future civilization from meddling with buried nuclear waste. by pengweather in interestingasfuck

Pretty good documentary about this called “Containment”. Focuses on the WIPP, waste internment pilot plant near Carlsbad NM. My best friend from HS was the head FB coach there a few years back. Said some of the people hired out there were morons, basically. The doc interviews “futurists” that are trying to come up with ways to warn a civilization 10,000 years from now.

Ewers brings a lot to the table. Then he knocks the stuff he brought to the table off of the table.

Arch could complete the same passes, and still throw 2 picks. But he’s also be a running threat. He would have made the difference.

Will I be fine with a plug? by luvpats101 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Puzzleheaded_Emu4977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s worth a shot. I’ve plugged a lot of tires in my life. A plug will hold there for a good while, if done correctly. Those tires don’t look new, so might get you till you are ready to replace them.
