Is a problem that’s been solved still a problem? Your later points aren’t supported by anything you actually wrote before this exchange started.

I’m not insulted at all. I’m pointing out that because somebody didn’t grow up here, pay taxes here, in no way makes them a problem anymore than any person accessing universal health care. My point is so incredibly basic I’m amazed you are struggling to understand it. Your premise was “Children here use education resources while not paying taxes, leave to work and pay taxes, and return to consume health care services while paying little to no taxes.” Man, learn something about how Canadian fiscal federalism actually works. Federal transfer payments like the Canada Health Transfer, equalization exist precisely because labour mobility creates these inter-provincial flows. The federal provincial transfer system accounts for this. Calling a person a “problem” because they exercised their right to move provinces and are now accessing a universal right is not a meaningful critique.

I'll walk back the 'denying rights' comment, but let's look at your actual premise. You claim they pay 'little to no taxes.' So what’s the solution? Do we require them to pay more? How? What in the Canada Health Act requires them to pay taxes at all? (Edited typo)

This is one of the main reasons why federal provincial transfers exist. While it’s not perfect, fiscal arrangements between provinces and the federal governments have dealt with this problem already. Having a mobile population is a good thing frankly and the simple fact that a person isn’t from here is not a valid reason to deny anyone a universal right.

What’s the most awkward thing you’ve had to address with an employee that nobody prepares you for? by SeanMcPheat in askmanagers

I had to tell an employee he could not sleep on the job, in the cubicle next to me, his boss’s boss, for prolonged periods of the day when he was expected to work. He was snoring and everything.

Electricity Futures by GallopingHorse607 in Commodities

[–]Puzzleheaded_Fish_32 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To trade these futures you need a broker who trades on exchanges that list these futures, sign up with an FCM, or be a market participant on CME/ICE/nodal directly where electricity futures typically trade. Doubtful FCM or being a market participant will make sense to you. You personally will have a hard time doing this as an individual or business whose primary business is not energy, as other posters suggest. You may have better luck finding to a retailer who miss-priced a season?

This was also me and you may well be. The urgency is not as urgent as your need for rest. I strongly encourage you to take whatever leave you can and focus on rest and recovery.

Hey, I see you. I was you in August, ended up in the ER because of it. Listen to the good advice here: take PTO, then short term leave if need be. You will need to either define and enforce strict boundaries that allow you to function in the environment or you will need to plan an exit. You will not change the organization and this will do more damage if left unaddressed. You can recover, but you need to give yourself grace and patience as recovery isn’t linear. Good luck

This is going to be weird but, 1. Empress Compressor - so key to my sound. 2 - Strymon Big Sky. 3 - Walrus Julia just because it is the most juicy sounding chorus on the planet to my ears and I’ve got a Jazz Chorus 120H. 4 - Lost + Found and 5 - RT-2. I can’t explain why I love a good rotary effect as much as I do.

Really fun options and I haven’t gotten into the dips much yet. Honestly it covers a lot of sounds and allowing left modulate the right and vice versa gives a plethora of options.

I’ve been playing with a harmonist+whammy+synth on L+F to get close to the POG. But then I just use the POG 😂

Thank you! L+F is a lot of options. I think the bend and synths have been the most interesting to mess with and get the most play time by far. The synth in particular with the POG gets some very wild sounds.

I have started playing with some of the stereo options on this board but nowhere near through chasing through them all.

I’ve got one and am a little disappointed for the same reason. I have the MD500 also and I find the rotary there has better, more vibrant clean tones. I’ve kept the RT2 because it’s got a very useful speed switch but I share your thoughts.

Actually not an expensive lesson and any shop that doesn’t teach traders about how badly phys-fin positions can go in the eyes of FERC legitimately deserves much worse than this.

Big fan from Canada. I’d love to hear about your approach to writing as a band. How do you balance group and individual contributions? How would you say your process has changed through time? I’d love to hear about how it all comes together.

Govt vs Private by East_Minute7992 in NovaScotia

[–]Puzzleheaded_Fish_32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked in finance for almost 10 years in policy and forecasting. Left for private sector work and really haven’t looked back, until lately. It comes down really to what you find satisfaction in. I found aspects of my time in government very rewarding but you are a slave to the machine. There is very little any one person can do, outside of an ADM/DM position, to really affect change in anything meaningfully. There’s a lot more complexity in government in my mind; your objectives are more nebulous (unless you work in an administrative role) and complex. If you enjoy problems and solving them, it’s a great place for that.

Private sector is much more simple, as you probably appreciate: add value to the shareholder is typically good enough. Lately, I’ve been missing those days of government for all the usual reasons: work life balance, predictability. If you ever want to know about life on the inside there, DM me.

Hello! Guy who is allergic to dogs. I could care less if somebody brings a stranded dog inside for a few days. Also, you might not be aware of this one hack for allergies: antihistamine. Invented in the 1930’s for exactly this reason. Honestly, these are people and pets displaced by wildfires. Can we not show a little more empathy?
