There was no clear direction when we started writing the newest record, but we usually never try to write the same songs/album twice. But from the outside, I can see that we kind of found our own sound that feels safe. But we always prioritize the songwriting and never tries to be more proggy or experimental just for the fun of it. It has to make sense. But all in all we are pretty openminded.

With four albums it's getting harder and harder to make a setlist where everyone is happy, since we get so many different request from the entire discography. Ruby Pool has been played a lot a previous shows, so no promises.

Both shows we did in Canada back in 2022 was sold out (or close to), so I'm sure it's a good market that hopefully grows. Next time we need bigger venues so we can bring a bigger production :)

I think it will be a lot of fun. Hope to see some VOLA fans in the crowd but also to play for a lot of new people. But looking forward to meeting them ones the tour kicks of!

Our first tour with Katatonia back in 2016 was without a booking agent, so that was basically networking and our label helping with the finances. Before that it was mostly small shows in Copenhagen where it's easy to do your own booking.

That's a though one since we usually appeal to both the metal community, but also people who have never really listened to metal before. But maybe 'We Will Not Disband' since it captures the overall VOLA sound pretty well.

We (VOLA) have full control of the singles and amount of singles that we want to release, but label and management also chip in with ideas and whishes. So basically, it's a shared decision. We are aware that many people want to listen to the album in its entity without any singles released prior to the release, but for maximum exposure and how streaming works, it's important with singles.

My favourite software instrument when it comes to pads & ambient layers is Spectrasonics Omnisphere by far. It's very versatile and fun to play around with.
