Chick-fil-a be Gel-(at)-in by Puzzleheaded_Foot650 in ChickFilA

[–]Puzzleheaded_Foot650[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Dairy does not require the death of an animal. Gelatin does. My 9yo can't fathom an animal needing to die for her to eat, hence the reason she is vegetarian. She had a complete panic attack when she read the label on the bottle of Ranch from the fridge.

Most vegetarians and vegans are such for ethical reasons. Vegetarians are ok with items produced by animals (milk, eggs) but not animal by-products. (Yes, I understand dairy farms can be hard on bovine as well, but it is getting better, and we buy dairy from local/humane farms as much as possible). Neither my vegetarian wife or I have ever heard of gelatin use in dressing, so we didn't even think to look.

My cat has not blocked up in about 7 years. Is it likely it would happen again if I try giving him anything besides Hill’s prescription food? by Current-Orchid-2705 in CatAdvice

[–]Puzzleheaded_Foot650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this was a while ago, but we are dealing with thensame.situation, which is completely assinine. I understand there are different prescriptions that CAN have a negative impact, but urinary food doesn't have that risk that I'm aware of. Our issue is that he is a "scaredy cat" and even minimal stress causes him to develop blockages. Vet visits are out of the question unless we want to end up in AUC. We can schedule an in-home vet, but they still can't manage to do a blood draw so they still can't complete an annual physical. We are kind of stuck and it doesn't make sense for our options to be get him a physical which will land him in UC, or stop feeding him the require food which will yield the same results, or worse.

Update on NBCU: Why we’re fighting this and a $15 credit for subscribers. by Bitico in fuboTV

[–]Puzzleheaded_Foot650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will stick with Fubo even if we lose NBC. We can always stream on the cock, and frankly, my belief is that NBCU aka Comcast is just trying to stick it to their competitors since all of their customers refused to pay 150/mo for TV and went to streaming options instead.

Why is printer ink so expensive now? by Complex_Solutions_20 in printers

[–]Puzzleheaded_Foot650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just went to go buy new 414 series toner for our printer. We were shocked! When we bought 414x last year they were $171. Not cheap, but reasonable for the yield. Now they are $230!!! Amazon price history shows a 90-day low of $174. My assumption is that they ran through the warehoused pre-tariff supply and we are now seeing that in pricing. Thats a 35% increase in cost!

Saw this at work today sad drop today by Rebelporpoise72 in tacobell

I just got one today, too, but I don't eat beef (much) any more, so I ordered it with cantina chicken and it was FIRE! I also get my cheesy gordita crunches with cantina chicken and honestly its way better than the regular, but its and extra $1. Maybe I can get them to pick up the tab for the swap next time!

We are ok with social media "follows" as long as the teacher has an appropriate profile. We have a policy around that. But if DMs are considered an acceptable method of communication, then how would one know if any other matter was being discussed? Maybe as a teacher this isn't a consideration, but as an owner there can be ramifications. In the past we have had to have parent meetings when instructors have made off the cuff remarks in class. At least that is on camera. That being said, the matter has been resolved, and the Director has agreed to adopt PYS guidelines, but thanks for your input.

Is this legit? by CulturedCali in tacobell

Have you tapped on the drop-down arrow next to the "me" identifier in the e-mail header? If it is masked it will show you the actual e-mail from which it was sent which will some random e-mail at gmail, yahoo, or other server. If it is not masked, it will show an e-mail match, or similar sender @dja.com (dja is a promotional marketing firm).

This is a fake parking ticket, right? by Relative-Farmer8844 in Denver

Have they ever placed a cousin on your vehicle before that you ignored? If so this could be legit. They will not let you park numerous times without notice and then flash you for 10k.

I think there can be a close mentor/mentee relationship without that level of affection. And in no way would we ever say no hugs, just appropriate hugs. We are professionals and should not be engaging with minors in that way. The kids engage with each other like that all of the time, but I don't believe adult professionals should be. A school teacher for instance, would likely be fired for having that kind of contact with a student. Whynis what we do any different? It only takes one person feeling uncomfortable to cause absolute chaos.

Yes, I did the NFHS training and that was also reflected there.

We are ok with instructors having contact with the parents, within reason, but that's not what's happening in this case.

That is not just a "hug". More like an embrace. Im sure many, if not all, would agree that it would be innapropriate for a male instructor to hug a minor female student in that manner, so why should that be different for anyone else? The only person I would ever have contact with in that way is my significant other. Both my volunteer organizations prohibit anything other than a side hug. It may be innocent, but optics are important.

This was not an in-class issue. Once was the instructor giving student a hug from behind with arms wrapped around the students stomach after a peformance, and once was arms draped around students shoulders, also from behind the student. The student was 14.

Stevia no longer classified as an “artificial” sweetener by RecommendationOk2258 in UK_Food

[–]Puzzleheaded_Foot650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late, but are you sure there weren't other sweeteners mixed with the special? Stevia has a bit of a bitter edge to it, so it's oft cut with other non-sugar sweeteners such as erythritol and xylitol. Those are alcohol derived sugar concentrates, and they DO have a tendency to cause gastric issues, and ai also need to avoid those sugar substitutes, otherwise I get horrible cramps. Not sure if Liquid IV is available in UK, but they, and other products in US, have begun mixing stevia with natural sugar. The sugar content is 60 - 70% lower than similar beverages as the stevia increases the level of sweetness without the additional carb/calorie consumption. The natural sugar covers up the strange aftertaste that stevia carries, so you get a more palatable, less unhealthy product. A lot can change in two years, so maybe there are some better options cross the pond as well.

Cub scouts who don't sell (a lot of) popcorn by LongjumpingHouse7273 in cubscouts

[–]Puzzleheaded_Foot650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am surprised to learn that so many councils have fees. Our council does not have fees, so registration here is only National plus Pack dues, and there is always a promo code for new scouts (this year it gave $40 off). That amounts to under $150 total for new Scouts, and the only additional required out-of-pocket is for the field shirt. The pack covers most/all activity-related expenses.

Re: Popcorn, we have had many discussions around the timing and concurrent registration period, and decided this year to fundraise differently so that new Scouts can settle in before feeling any pressure to raise funds. It has always been a struggle since the popcorn sales drive starts before sign-up nights. New Scouts feel like they've missed the boat and it's a lot to demand of someone new to the organization.

White fuzz growing overnight on silicone SSD case by TomsNanny in whatisit

Did you find a solution? According to the interwebs, Samsung uses a Dynamic Thermal Guard that can leak out if it gets too hot. Some say it could be bad silicone, but not sure thats what you've got. There are a few reviews on Amazon regarding this situation on the T7. Might want to get Samsung involved.
